Menomonie Police Respond to School Threats

On Thursday April 18, 2024, at approximately 11:43 p.m., the Menomonie Police Department was alerted to a social media post indicating there would be a school shooting at the Colfax High School on April 19, 2024.

The subject who made the post was subsequently interviewed and taken into custody. The individual faces charges of Terrorist Threats, and other charges are pending review by the Dunn County District Attorney’s Office. Further investigation showed the subject was hoping for media attention from his social media post; therefore, the Menomonie Police Department does not plan to release the subjects name and we request that the media refrain from releasing the subject’s name.

During the investigation, the Menomonie Police Department reached out to the Colfax High School and informed them of the status of the case. At this time, we do not believe there is any additional danger
to the Colfax High School.

The Menomonie Police Department would like to thank the Dunn County Sheriff’s Office and the Colfax
School District for their assistance with this incident.
