Woman Pleads Not Guilty to Running Down Husband

A Forest County woman has pleaded not guilty to drunkenly running her husband down last fall. Mary Terry was in court yesterday for her arraignment. A judge ordered her held on 50 thousand-dollars cash bail, and ordered her fitted with an ankle bracelet. Hunting Pause Passes Assembly, On to Senate

The plan to protect the deer population in northern Wisconsin by pausing the doe hunt is on its way at the State Capitol. The Assembly yesterday approved a four-year pause on antlerless deer hunting in the Northern Forest Zone. Supporters say Wisconsin needs to do something to help the deer herd grow. WI Lawmakers Sign Off on New Alert System

Wisconsin lawmakers have signed-off on a new alert for missing children in the state. The State Assembly yesterday approved the Prince Alert. It’s named after five-year-old Prince McCree from Milwaukee who was killed last year. Milwaukee Police didn’t issue an Amber Alert in the case because Prince’s disappearance didn’t meet the criteria. The first U.S. moon landing since 1972 is successful. Houston-based Intuitive Machines guided its Odysseus lander onto the moon Thursday. The lander will collect data needed by NASA, which is planning to land near the moon’s south pole later this decade. It marks the first touchdown by a U.S.-built spacecraft since the Apollo 17 mission in 1972. Odysseus is expected to spend roughly a week gathering data before it loses power.

A months-long investigation into a western Wisconsin drug ring has ended with six arrests. Police in Eau Claire arrested the six yesterday. Investigators started looking into the suspects after the Post Office in Minneapolis flagged a number of packages of drugs that were headed to various places in Eau Claire. Voters in Menomonie have said No to a four million-dollar tax hike for the city’s schools. Election managers say 59 percent of people who voted on Tuesday voted against the operating referendum. The State Assembly yesterday approved the proposal that would keep kids in their grade if they miss more than 30 days in a single school year.
