WI Counties Asses Damage, Six Confirmed Tornados

The tornado count from Saturday night is at six. The National Weather Service says six tornadoes hit Saturday night, most of them in southern Wisconsin. Forecasters say the first tornado touched-down in Grant County just after 5:30. Then more tornadoes between 7 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. Saturday night. No New Leads in Case of Missing Woman

You may remember the case of a missing Chippewa Falls woman. Saturday marked eight years since Shannah Boiteau’s disappearance. She left her home in Chippewa Falls on June 21st, 2016 and was last seen the next day running from her car in St. Cloud, Minnesota. Train Death Under Investigation

There are questions to answer about a train track death in Oshkosh. Police in the city say they got a call about a man who’d been hit by a train along the tracks at East Parkway Avenue about 7 p.m. last night. Officers say the 23-year-old victim was pronounced dead at the scene. The train was stopped as part of the investigation. No one is saying why the young man was so close to the train.

Hearing Set to Address Disability Rights, Voting

There’s a hearing today in court in Madison that could change how some people vote in the state. Disability Rights Wisconsin is suing to get some kind of electronic absentee voting option for disabled voters in the state. DNR Warns: Don’t Steal Cicadas

Don’t take cicadas home with you. That’s the word from Wisconsin’s Department of Natural Resources. The DNR yesterday said they’ve gotten a couple of reports of people harvesting cicadas from Big Foot Beach State Park in Walworth County. Conservation police say it’s against the law to remove bugs from state parks. It’s also a bad idea. Moving the cicadas could help spread them throughout Wisconsin. Ground Breaks on New Treatment Facility

Ground broke for a new Arbor Place in Menomonie. Plea Deal in Poisoning Case

A Wisconsin woman who allegedly tried to poison her husband with animal drugs has taken a plea deal.  Wisconsin Circuit Court records show that 51-year-old Amanda Chapin pleaded no contest Friday to a charge of felony first-degree reckless endangering.  The charge was downgraded from first-degree attempted homicide after Chapin cut a deal last week with Lafayette County prosecutors.   Chapin allegedly put animal euthanasia drugs in her husband’s coffee three times in 2022, putting the 70-year-old man in a coma.

Severe Weather Hits WI, Tornado Touched Down

A tornado has caused considerable damage in Janesville.  A statement from the city says a tornado touched down in south Janesville early Saturday night and caused considerable damage to structures and infrastructure.  The statement said first responders are on the scene, and the city has activated its Emergency Operations Center to mobilize resources.  The Rock County Sheriff’s office said at 11pm that no injuries have been reported, and further damage assessments would be completed in the morning.  Residents are being
