A tornado has caused considerable damage in Janesville.

A statement from the city says a tornado touched down in south Janesville early Saturday night and caused considerable damage to structures and infrastructure.  The statement said first responders are on the scene, and the city has activated its Emergency Operations Center to mobilize resources.  The Rock County Sheriff’s office said at 11pm that no injuries have been reported, and further damage assessments would be completed in the morning.  Residents are being asked to stay away from the south side of Janesville.
