Sturgeon season in Wisconsin will continue. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service yesterday said it will not add the lake sturgeon to the endangered species list. A federal judge asked Fish and Wildlife to consider the lake sturgeon as a way to protect the species. State Rep. Body Recovered From River, Identified as Missing Woman

The search for a missing woman in Dunn County has come to a sad end. The Dunn County Sheriff’s office says they’ve identified Margarite Endres’ body. Deputies say someone found the body while canoeing on the Chippewa River. Endres went missing in early February. There’s no word how she died though officials say they don’t suspect foul play.

Vue Still Missing, Mother Requests Release

Elijah Vue’s mother is once again asking to be let out of jail. Katrina Baur yesterday asked a Manitowoc County judge to change her bond from a 15 thousand-dollar cash bond to a signature bond. She’s being held on neglect charges related to her son’s disappearance. No one has seen Elijah Vue since February 20th. Grenade Found in Chippewa Valley, Safety Reminder

Eau Claire County’s sheriff is asking people not to move any hand grenades they find. Sheriff Dave Riewestahl is making his unusual request after someone found a hand grenade over the weekend, and brought it to the sheriff’s office. Deputies say two people found the grenade near the Chippewa River on Sunday, and brought it to the county courthouse. WI Lawmakers Set to Hear Case for Closing Green Bay Correctional Center

WI Plants Goals for Trees

Wisconsin is increasing its tree planting goal to 100-million trees by 2030. Governor Tony Evers signed the executive order today, Earth Day. The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources says more than 30-million trees have been planted in Wisconsin since the state started its Trillion Trees Pledge three years ago. Those seedlings have been planted in both rural areas and urban areas, helping cities with funding through grant programming. A tree planting map can be found on the Wisconsin DNR’s website.
