Half the money is coming from the state, while the other half is coming from private investors. The governor has issued an emergency order to help with security preparations for Milwaukee’s Republican National Convention. Governor Tony Evers signed the order yesterday. It’s standard practice, in fact all convention cities have similar agreements. The order makes it easier for Milwaukee to get both state and federal money to help with convention security. The Pride Flag will fly above the Wisconsin Capitol once again, starting tomorrow. Governor Evers will be on hand for what has become a yearly tradition to raise the Pride Flag to kick-off Pride Month. The governor has flown the flag each year that he’s been governor. Not all agree with the choice, some Republicans and conservatives in the state say only the American flag, the state flag, and the POW/MIA flag should fly about Wisconsin’s statehouse.

Wisconsin’s bird flocks have avoided this latest round of the bird flu. The state’s Department of Agriculture says there hasn’t been a report of the bird flu in either commercial or backyard flocks since January. That was a case in Washburn County that saw over 40-thousand birds destroyed. Before that, there were two outbreaks in commercial flocks in Barron County late last year. It’s been two years since a sexual assault kit tracking system was introduced in Wisconsin — and nearly three and a half thousand have been turned in. The Wisconsin Department of Justice says the system gives victims more detailed information about the status and location of their kits. The state DOJ says the number of sexual assaults is likely higher, since not every victim gets tested. Test results do not guarantee the outcome of investigations or prosecution.

The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources is looking for landowners to host hunters with disabilities this fall. Applicants must have at least 60 acres available and host a minimum of three people. The Gun Deer Hunt For Hunters With Disabilities has been held annually since 1992 and gives 400 people the opportunity to hunt. The hunt will be between October 5th and 13.

A second body has been recovered following a house fire and explosion in Dane County near Middleton. Police say there were reports from local residents of gunshots in the house during the fire at about eleven last night. Responders say they were likely set off by the high temperatures of the flames. A dog was also recovered from the scene alive and taken to a local emergency vet.

Getting to Packer games this season just got easier. Airport managers in Appleton yesterday announced new flights to some of Green Bay’s away games this year. Allegiant Airlines is offering flights to Nashville, Los Angeles, and Jacksonville. The man who police say pointed a gun at an Eau Claire officer on Friday was released from jail yesterday. Thomas Burback was in court yesterday. He was possibly shot by an officer on Friday after police responded to Burback’s house for a drunken domestic violence situation. The officer fired a shot at Burback after she said she saw him point a gun at her. Burback was taken to the hospital, but Eau Claire Police have never said if he
