Students Return to Class, Vigils Held

Students are returning to Mount Horeb schools today after a shooting threat last week. Last Wednesday morning, a 14-year-old boy was found on the middle school’s campus with what police say was a pellet gun that looked like a rifle. They asked him to drop the weapon and he refused. Wausau Educator Arrested, Drugs Found in Car

A Wausau educator is in custody and accused of bringing drugs on a local middle school’s property.  John Muir Middle School math teacher 23-year-old Nevan Larson, was arrested and will go to court on Friday. The Wausau Police Department says a school resource officer got information that Larson may have cocaine in his car. Tickets are now on sale for additional Amtrak service between the Twin Cities and Chicago, affecting eight Wisconsin stations. The second daily round trip trains, named Borealis, will start running on May 21st.  Wisconsin stations seeing extra stops include Milwaukee, La Crosse, and Wisconsin Dells. Coach fares start at 41-dollars, with discounts for students, seniors, and military personnel and families.

Hormel Issues Nut Recall

Hormel is recalling two varieties of Planters nuts because of a possible listeria contamination that could cause fatal infections. The products, Honey Roasted Peanuts and Deluxe Lightly Salted Mixed Nuts, were sent to Publix warehouses in Florida, Georgia, Alabama and North Carolina. DEI Audit Could be Coming, Hearing Set

The state’s Joint Legislative Audit Committee will hold a hearing tomorrow on a proposed DEI audit.
