Local governments across Wisconsin got their first billion-dollars from the state’s shared revenue plan. Governor Tony Evers’ office announced the payment yesterday. In all, cities, towns, and counties will get over one-and-a-half billion-dollars from the state. The grant money will go to low- to-moderate income communities with fewer than 50-thousand people across the state. Funded projects include improvements and repairs to streets, water, sewer, and drainage systems. The state is getting the money from the U-S Department of Housing and Urban Development.

Governor Tony Evers says he’s directing the state Department of Health Services to invest in a minimum fee schedule for direct care workers. This will create between a 15- and 40-percent wage increase for the workers, who help almost 57-thousand patients statewide. Minimum rate schedules will start in October.
