Pewaukee Teen Crowned Miss WI Teen

A Pewaukee girl has been crowned Miss Wisconsin Teen.  The pageant was held last night at Alberta Kimball Auditorium at Oshkosh West High School, and featured performances from 23 Wisconsin girls competing for the title.  This year’s winner was Ella Bey from Pewaukee.  Bey will now compete for Miss America’s Teen.

WI Swimmer Makes Olympic Splash

A University of Wisconsin swimmer has qualified for the Summer Olympics.  Phoebe Bacon finished second last night in the 200-meter backstroke at the USA Swimming Trials in Indianapolis.  The win earned Bacon the final qualifying spot in the upcoming games.  It will be Bacon’s second Olympic appearance.  She finished fifth in the backstroke in the 2020 Games.

Habitat Partnership Leads to Homeownership for Ellsworth Family

A few days after the St. Croix Valley Habitat for Humanity celebrated its 28th year of helping families access safe, affordable housing in Wisconsin, a local mother and healthcare worker, Taylor, and her two children joined volunteers on a snowy afternoon in March to break ground on their new home in Ellsworth. Staff from USDA Rural Development were on hand for the occasion, including Jackie, Taylor’s assigned Loan Specialist at USDA Rural Development.   Jackie started working with Taylor in early February 2024.

New Title for the Bald Eagle?

The bald eagle has been part of the Great Seal of the United States since 1782 but there has never been a push to name it America’s National Bird. Several Minnesota lawmakers are trying to change that with the introduction of a bipartisan bill to give the bald eagle that title. More Details Released in Case of Trempealeau Co. Homicide

We’re getting some answers about a month-old killing in Trempealeau County. Prosecutors provided some details yesterday about the May 15th killing in Ettrick. Investigators say the suspect in the case, Todd Gieck, shot and killed the victim, Kyle Dahl, as he was driving home from his family farm. Dahl’s body was found in a ditch off the highway, and the Trempealeau County Sheriff’s Office refused to release any information about the case. Prosecutors say Gieck told investigators that he was

Lawyers Suggest an Update in Case of Missing Child

There could be a  ‘resolution’ coming in the neglect case against Elijah Vue’s mom. Lawyers for Katrina Bauer yesterday suggested that could be coming, but they did not say what that means. Bauer is being held on neglect charges in connection with Vue’s disappearance. He’s been missing since February, when he was last seen at Bauer’s boyfriend’s home. That boyfriend is also being held on neglect charges. Bauer is next scheduled to be in court in Manitowoc on July 1st.

New Bus App Planned

Eau Claire is ready with another bus tracking app. The city yesterday said its new bus tracker will launch in August. The new app will replace the old TransLoc which Eau Claire dropped last summer because it had too many bugs. WI Lawmaker Tackles Social Media, Screen Curfews

A Republican lawmaker from Green Bay says he plans to try again with a law that would allow parents to set a curfew on their kids’ social media accounts. State Rep.
