 Wisconsin’s attorney general is joining a coalition asking that TurboTax services not be advertised as free. Attorney General Josh Kaul is joining 21 other attorneys general to ask the U-S Court of Appeals to reject an appeal filed by Intuit, the maker of TurboTax. Intuit is appealing a settlement of 141-million dollars reached in 2022. The company was also ordered to stop advertising its services as free, unless they are free to all consumers, by the FTC in 2023.  The

Housing Investment Makes History

Six Wisconsin affordable housing developments are splitting 525-million dollars in state funding. It’s the largest amount housing investment given by the state in its history. The Wisconsin Housing and Economic Development Authority says beneficiaries include senior living, workforce housing, and rehabilitation developments. The two projects that got money from the first round of Vacancy-to-Vitality funding in January are currently underway.

WI Waters Expected to be Busy

There will be extra law enforcement on Wisconsin waters next week for Independence Day. The state Department of Natural Resources says wardens and law enforcement will participate in the national Operation Dry Water campaign. The DNR says crews will be looking for boat operators who are drinking, and educating people on proper life jacket use. The 16-year-old inmate at Lincoln Hills who is accused of killing a teacher there is now looking at formal charges. Prosecutors in Lincoln County yesterday filed second-degree reckless homicide against Javarius Hurd. A New Jersey man is looking at nearly 50 felony counts after investigators say he sent nude pictures and nude videos to an 11-year-old girl.
