Court House Threat Suspect Committed to Mental Hospital, Due in Court in July

The man who threatened to shoot-up the Chippewa County courthouse is now in the state mental hospital. Court records show that 40-year-old Harley Alcala has been committed. He was arrested last May after he threatened to shoot-up the courthouse because of a custody dispute involving his daughter. Police say he didn’t have any weapons on him when he was arrested. Alcala is due back in court in July.

Bus Driver Facing Charges, Ordered to Stay Away From Children

A Burnett County school bus driver is facing sex crime charges. Prosecutors filed formal charges this week against Grantsburg bus driver Noah Gausman. He’s accused of sexual assault, child enticement, and contributing to the delinquency of a child. Gausman drove a bus for the Grantsburg School District. Fire Chief Behind Bars, Facing Charges

A Marathon County fire chief is behind bars and looking at child enticement charges. Authorities in Rothschild yesterday arrested Riverside Fire District Chief Robert Bowen on child enticement/sexual contact charges. No one is offering any specifics as to just what he’s accused of doing. The Riverside Fire District Board has an emergency meeting scheduled for later this morning, presumably to deal with the chief’s future.

WI Senate Shoots Down Vetoes’, Political Tug-of-War Continues

As promised, Republicans in the Wisconsin Senate shot down a slew of Governor Evers’ vetoes. Republicans overrode nine vetoes from the governor, including vetoes that scuttled a PFAS clean-up plan and that tied-up millions of dollars for hospitals in Eau Claire and Chippewa Falls. Every Democrat in the Senate voted against the overrides, though they continue to say they want Republican lawmakers to release the money that the governor vetoed. Menomonie Police, Fire Department Receive Record Gift

Menomonie’s police and fire department are celebrating their biggest gifts ever. The Robert B. Wigen Family Trust on Monday gave the fire department and the police department 100 thousand-dollars each. Countdown to NFL Draft

The NFL Draft is officially in Green Bay’s hands now. The league ‘handed-off’ the draft yesterday. That included a couple of videos from Michigan’s governor to Wisconsin’s governor. There was also a ferry ride, and a group of cyclists who are making their way from Detroit to Green Bay. Green Bay started its official draft countdown clock at 7 p.m. last night. The draft is scheduled for next April 24th through the 26th, at Lambeau Field.

Man Inured in Train Accident

A man is injured after a train hit him while he was walking near the tracks. The man was walking along the tracks in the Trempealeau Wildlife Refuge. The Sheriff’s Office says it got a call about the crash just after three yesterday afternoon. Responding medical crews say they found a 74-year-old man with a broken arm in the brush alongside the tracks. He was reported missing just hours before the crash.
