About one-point-four million people will be driving on Wisconsin roads for the Fourth of July holiday. The Wisconsin Department of Transportation says peak travel times are expected to be between two P-M and seven P-M on this Wednesday the second, and two P-M until eight P-M on Sunday the seventh. Information about traffic, construction projects, and crashes will be available on the 5-1-1 Wisconsin app or website.

An investigation into a mushroom-based product manufacturer is underway by the Wisconsin Department of Health Services. The department says Diamond Shruumz brand products, including chocolate bars, cones, and gummies, may be causing severe illnesses. The brand makes its product with a proprietary blend of mushrooms and was available for purchase both online and at retailers. One suspect is left in critical condition after an officer-involved shooting in Wisconsin. The Adams County Sheriff’s Office says a deputy responded to a call about a woman driving under the influence of narcotics Saturday afternoon. About an hour later, the car was located. Six people are dead after a Necedah house fire. The Juneau County Sheriff’s Department says it responded to a 9-1-1 call at about two-thirty Sunday morning. The County Sheriff’s Office and both the Necedah and New Lisbon fire departments responded to the scene. Three adults and three children were still inside the house, which was engulfed in flames. Firefighters battled the fire for about three hours, but were on scene for more than twelve.

United Way St. Croix Valley and Dunn County United Way have completed their merger, effective July 1st, 2024. The nonprofits had previously announced their intent to merge to form a stronger, more unified force for community impact. The combined organization is “United Way St. Croix and Red Cedar Valleys” (UWSCRCV) and will serve communities throughout Burnett, Dunn, Pepin, Pierce, Polk, and St. Croix counties. “We are excited to start this new chapter,” said Steve McCarthy, Executive Director of the merged

Visit Eau Claire announced that voting for the People’s Choice award is open for the 2024-25 season of Sculpture Tour Eau Claire. On Saturday, June 29, 2024 at 2:36pm the Barron County 911 Center received a 911 call of an adult male that had went into the water below the Mikana Dam to help a child struggling in the water. The kids had gotten safely out but the male was unaccounted for. Authorities in Adams County are calling the death of two people there suspicious. The Adams County Sheriff’s Office says they found the body of Sharon Miller on Thursday. Deputies then found Jami Lumby’s body at their home.  No one is saying how the two died, or why the deaths are being investigated as suspicious as of now, as the investigation continues.  The state’s Department of Justice is helping with the case.

We are waiting for answers about what investigators in Necedah are calling an ‘active crime scene.’ The Juneau County Sheriff’s Office is not providing any answers about what they found yesterday. There are reports that something at the home Morro’s Mile Road burned. Firefighters were on the scene, but no one is offering any specifics. The sheriff’s office may have more information on just what happened later today.

Lake Altoona now has an aqua thruster to try and fight blue green algae. The Lake Altoona District Board says they wanted to try something to keep the lake open more this summer. Blue green algae is deadly for dogs, and can make people sick. The algae closed the lake a couple of times last year.
