Investigation Continues into Deadly Juneau Co. Fire

The Juneau County cabin that burned and killed six people didn’t have a rental permit. Authorities say the cabin, which was regularly listed on Airbnb, was never licensed or inspected for rental. Six people died in the fire at the camp in Necedah last week. No one is saying just what caused the fire, or whether a rental permit would have avoided the fire. MKE Sees Violent 4th of July

It was a violent Fourth of July in Milwaukee. Police in the city say five people were shot yesterday, one of them died. The deadly shooting happened about 10:45 last night on North 25th. Police say there was an argument, then someone pulled out a gun and shot a 42-year-old. Milwaukee Police say they did not make an arrest in the case.

Patrick Bertoletti has secured the mustard belt, scarfing down 58 dogs and buns in ten minutes. Trial Set for Western WI Murder Case

A western Wisconsin woman accused of killing her husband then burning his body will go to trial. A judge in Black River Falls yesterday found Star Myers competent enough to stand trial. Prosecutors in Jackson County say she shot her husband to death in March of last year, then set his body on fire to try and cover-up her crime. She is due back in court in September, but there’s no word when her trial could actually begin.

Structural Concerns Affect Residents at Apartment Building

Coast Guard Closes Parts of Mississippi River

The Coast Guard has closed a couple parts of the Mississippi River in western Wisconsin. The Coast Guard yesterday said it’s closed Pools 5A and 6 running from Whitman, Minnesota down to Trempealeau.  Coast Guard commanders say the recent rains have swollen the Mississippi, which has made it dangerous for people and their boats.
