Fatal Crash Under Investigation

On July 17, 2024, at approximately 10:46 AM, the Dunn County Communication Center received a 911call, of a semi truck that was involved in a crash with an SUV. Dunn Co. Fair Strings Up the Lights for Christmas in July

Deb Gotlibson wants one thing for this year’s Dunn County Fair: decent weather.  “Hopefully. this year is going to be a much nicer year,” said Gotlibson, president of the Dunn County Fair Board.   The 2023 fair week saw three grandstand and two free stage shows canceled because of both heat and rain.  On one day, she said, the heat index hit 112 degrees, adding, “It was just miserable, and then the storm hit.”  But since 1885, the residents of Dunn County and western Wisconsin have been able to enjoy the Dunn County Fair in July.  The

Manhunt Over, Suspect Arrested

The manhunt for a suspect wanted in both Madison and Eau Claire has ended in Indiana. The U.S. Marshals yesterday said they arrested Jerome Jacobs, Jr. in Gary, Indiana.  He’s wanted in connection to a shooting in Madison.  Police in Eau Claire were the last to spot him in Wisconsin, but they say he had some help in escaping.  Madison Police say Jacobs fired nearly 20 shots at the home of the mother of his children back in June. Investigation Continues into Prisoner Death

We now know the name of the Chippewa County prisoner who died after being rushed to the hospital.  Chippewa County Sheriff Travis Hakes said Shauna Dommer was taken to the hospital, where she later died.  Dommer was facing bail jumping and drug charges in Eau Claire County.  Hakes says Dommer was brought to the county jail on July 2nd, but was rushed to the hospital on July 4th.  She was placed on life support on July 10th, and the coroner

Tornado’s Confirmed in WI

Monday night’s storms dropped at least one tornado in southern Wisconsin. The National Weather Service yesterday confirmed that an EF-1 tornado touched down in Kieler, in Grant County. The sheriff’s office says the twister tore the roof off the Village Bar Supper Club. No one was hurt, even though there were about 20 customers and people working in the supper club at the time. Green Bay may be small, but the Packers aren’t poor. The Packers yesterday said they turned a 60-million-dollar profit for the last year. While that is not a small amount of money, CEO Mark Murphy says net profits were down about 12-percent.
