Hundreds of National Parks across the U.S. are waiving entrance fees on Sunday. August 4th marks four years since the Great American Outdoors Act was signed into law. It provides billions of dollars over five years for national park maintenance. Over 400 parks will have free admission. That also includes national battlefields, monuments, and beaches.

Universities of Wisconsin President Jay Rothman announced the Wisconsin Tuition Promise will fund a new section of students starting in fall 2025.  Under the tuition promise, students who come from families earning $55-thousand or less annually will be able to attend 11 UWs without having to pay tuition or fees. A Wisconsin woman who tried to poison her husband’s coffee has  learned her fate.  Fifty-one-year-old Amanda Chapin has been sentenced to three years in prison followed by three years of extended supervision.  She pleaded no contest last month to a charge of  first-degree reckless endangering.  Prosecutors say Chapin put animal euthanasia drugs in her husband’s coffee three times in 2022, leaving the 70-year-old man in a coma.  Chapin told police her husband became sick after taking Ivermectin because he didn’t

  The U.S. Geological Survey is confirming an earthquake in Door County.  They say it hit early this morning in Lake Michigan, which is 24-miles southeast of Sturgeon Bay.  The quake measured two-point-nine on the Richter scale.  The USGS says it received 24 reports from people who say they felt the earthquake this morning shortly after 9:00.
