Green Bay is currently third in the NFC North, while Detroit is in first place. Some folks in Wisconsin will be able to catch the game on regular TV, while the rest of the state and the rest of the country will need to watch it on Amazon Prime.

EC Man Reaches Plea Deal

A man from Eau Claire accused of randomly shooting at houses is reaching a plea deal. Prosecutors say Brandon Flanary admitted to shooting out of his window while drinking to relieve stress.  He’s pleading no contest to two charges, and another charge was dropped in exchange.  Flanary will be on probation for three years, and will not be allowed to use guns in that time.

WI Hunters Approach Deadlines

Applications for black bear and spring turkey hunting seasons are due in less than a week. The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources says drawings for 2025 bear authorizations will be in February, and the season will run next September and October. Turkey authorizations will be drawn in January, and the season will run between April and May. Applications are due next Tuesday.

Blaze Orange and Whitetail Numbers Both Up

Wisconsin saw both more deer hunters, and more deer taken during this year’s gun season. The Department of Natural Resources yesterday said hunters bagged 189-thousand deer this year. That’s over five percent more than last year. There were also more hunters this year. The DNR said it issued 791-thousand hunting licenses. This was the safest deer season in decades. The DNR says there was only one, non-fatal hunting related shooting this season.

Woman Sentenced in Stabbing Case

It’s 16-years in prison for the Chippewa County woman who stabbed her boyfriend in the shower last Christmas Eve. A judge yesterday handed down Laura Feala’s sentence. Prosecutors say she nearly stabbed her boyfriend to death last year. Doctors say he had stab wounds to his head, eye, stomach, thumb, and close to his heart. Feala pleaded guilty to attempted first-degree intentional homicide charges back in July.

Search Over, Remains Found

The search for a missing Clark County woman is over. The state’s Department of Justice yesterday said it found Cassandra Ayon’s remains near the Town of Brighton in Marathon County. Ayon went missing back in 2020. A jury convicted her boyfriend, Jesus Contreras-Perez, of her murder back in 2022. He’s serving a life sentence. Clark County’s D.A, said she hopes that the discovery of her remains brings the family some closure. There’s no word how Ayon died, or just what

Badgers Drop the Ball

Michigan’s big men were just too much for Wisconsin in their first Big Ten game of the year. The Badgers fell to Michigan last night 67-64. The loss is Wisconsin’s first of the year. Michigan’s two seven-footers scored 44 on the Wolverines 67 points. John Tonje finished with 18 points, and John Blackwell added 16 more. The Badgers are now 8-1 on the season, and take on Marquette on Saturday.

Traffic Stop Leads to 5th OWI

Donald Johnson , 56 years of age, from Eau Claire has been arrested by the Wisconsin State Patrol Eau Claire Post for operating a motor vehicle under the influence, 5th offense.  On December 2,2024, at approximately 10:42 pm, a Wisconsin State Patrol Trooper initiated a traffic stop after observing a vehicle fail to stop at a stop sign at the I-94 westbound exit 45 of ramp and the County Highway B intersection.  During the traffic stop the Trooper observed signs

Candidates Seek Re-Election to EC City Council

Two more candidates are vying for at-large Eau Claire City Council seats. Both Nate Otto and Charlie Johnson are seeking re-election. Otto, a middle school teacher and councilmember since 2021, says he’s focused on sustainability and education. Johnson, who’s served on the City Council since 2022, says he’s advocating for accessible housing and more economic opportunities. There will be five at-large seats open for election in April of next year.
