Two people are facing charges after a crash in Eau Claire County. That happened yesterday evening on Highway 37 in the Township of Brunswick, when a car crossed the center line and hit another vehicle.  Both drivers were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the car was arrested for drunk driving causing injury and his passenger was arrested for a probation violation.

The Eau Claire Police Department is working to fight an increasing crime rate, which has reached an eleven-year high-and that bump up is due largely to issues such as drug arrests.  The Chief said the department is working to develop crime prevention strategies and to take action against crime. The Durand football stadium is expected to SCORE  a new place ahead of schedule.  The Durand-Arkansaw School District said that construction may be wrapped up in just a couple weeks-and the cleats will get dirty this Saturday as The Panthers are planning to take the field for a short practice.

Remember when Foxconn reps were in our area talking jobs in the downtown? Well, now we know a little more…Governor Walker is shedding light on the Foxconn location in Eau Claire and the 150 jobs it’s set to bring to the area-he was in Lake Hallie yesterday with some more info and said the jobs are going to be high-tech positions, similar to those in Green Bay, Milwaukee, and Racine County.

The Department of Transportation is launching a campaign aimed at fighting distracted driving. The DOT is partnering with students at Indian Community School to create a public service announcement highlighting the dangers of distracted driving, which the department says causes nearly three crashes every hour in the state.

Have you heard the BUZZ?? The Beep Baseball World Series is underway in Eau Claire. DOWNtown is right on schedule to open UP! Sounds like everything is on pace to open in September. The pedestrian foot bridge spanning the Eau Claire River is in place and the new wall along the river is almost finished.  The Pablo Center at the Confluence is nearly set to move in-start shopping for your fancy outfits now! The grand opening for the center is set for September 22nd.

A fire that destroyed a popular bar and bowling alley in Friendship is under investigation. Fire crews were called just after one o’clock Monday to the Friendship Bar and Bowl in the Village of Friendship.  A portion of Highway 13 was closed while crews battled the blaze.  Nearly 40 firefighters responded to the scene, where the building is considered a total loss, but there were no injuries.

Notebooks, folders, pencil boxes, and ….safety grants? Add that to the Back to School list as State AG Brad Schimel is handing out more school safety grants for area schools and was in our area and halls yesterday at Northstar Middle School announcing grants for the Eau Claire Area School District and Regis Catholic Schools. He says the goal of the grants is to prevent incidents from happening at schools and to get kids help sooner when they do.  State
