A Chippewa Falls man could go to prison after being accused of stealing a woman’s car and her service dog. A criminal complaint claims 26-year-old Nathan Hakes stole the woman’s car from a parking lot in Eau Claire over the weekend. The woman and her husband found the car and the woman’s service dog with Hakes at a nearby bar. The vehicle was borrowed by Carter, and its owner made the criminal complaint. Carter says he left the car because he was scared. His OWI convictions extend back to 2003.

He describes her as a “dedicated, thoughtful leader who puts the best interest of kids before all else.” Taylor will be Wisconsin’s first African-American state superintendent of public instruction. She will oversee the state’s educational system and Public Instruction Department.

Intersections of Earl Street and South Farwell as well as at Harding Avenue and Jefferson Street feature heavy foot traffic. The systems cost the city between eight-thousand and ten-thousand dollars to buy and install. More new signal systems may start to pop up in Eau Claire if these first few are successful.

An employee who was preparing to open the store reported a glass door being broken and suspects entering. The employee was able to shelter in a different room and lock the door. The three suspects entered the building and two of them jumped over the counter.
