MAN FACES DECADES IN PRISON AFTER ATTACKING EX

An Eau Claire man is accused of raping his ex-girlfriend and choking her at knife point.  The Leader-Telegram reports 26-year-old Alfonso Washington-Davis was charged in Eau Claire County yesterday with four felony counts including first-degree sexual assault with a dangerous weapon.  Police say the victim claims Washington-Davis broke into her house early Sunday morning, assaulted her and threatened to kill her, then left.  He is facing up to 55 years in prison.

800 GRAMS OF METH = 12 YEARS IN PRISON FOR EC MAN

An Eau Claire man is going to prison in Madison after being convicted of methconspiracy.  Police say they used a confidential source to buy meth and a weapon from 26-year-old Joshua Robertson back in January, allowing officers to track him down and arrest him.  Police report Robertson was arrested in Hudson with over 800 grams of meth in his car.  He will serve 12 years in prison.

TAX LEVY LIMIT IN QUESTION

The Dunn County Executive Committee is considering giving voters the chance to decide if it can adjust the tax levy limit.  The committee is planning to raise the tax levy to bring in more revenue and avoid a deficit, but at the risk of having future budget issues and being forced to cut services.  The committee discussed putting the issue on the April ballot at a meeting yesterday but no action has been taken yet.  A decision has to be

DEFENSIVE BACK GOES ON THE OFFENSIVE AGAINST BULLYING

Students at NewAuburn High School are being encouraged to stand up to bullying after getting avisit from a former Green Bay Packer.  Former defensive back Leroy Butler spoke at an assembly yesterday and talked about his struggles being bullied because he grew up in poverty.  Butler joked with the kids in all seriousness, telling them they should never bully anyone just because they’re not a Packers fan.

A new show choir in Chippewa Falls is helping out kids with special needs.  Hearts and Harmony is the first ever show choir created for kids with special needs in the Chippewa Falls area and will kick off its season in January.  The creator of the choir says one of the main goals is to bring kids who may struggle with isolation together so they can develop friendships.  The choir is holding a breakfast benefit to raise money this Saturday

As families, friends, and our community mourns, funerals begin for the victims of a Lake Hallie hit-and-run crash. Today at the Chippewa Valley Bible Church in Chippewa Falls, 10 year-old Haylee Hickle’s funeral will be held-along with her mothers, 32-year-old Sara Schneider’s as well. Ten-year-old Autumn Helgeson’s funeral will be held at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Chippewa Falls.  Our hearts and prayers are with the families.
