The State of Wisconsin is urging residents to burn their wreaths and other evergreen Christmas decorations because of an invasive bug that’s been popping up. The Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection says the microscopic elongate hemlock scale feeds on the underside of the needles and can infect multiple plant species and has been found on similar decorations at department stores across the state. Residents are being asked to take all decorations off of their live Christmas trees and have them on the curb by 7:00 a.m. any day that week. The tree pick up times will not coincide with normal garbage pickup times.
