BLANKET PROJECT WARMS HEARTS

Community members in Eau Claire are tying blankets for homeless students.  Members of the public came together last night at Pine Meadow Golf Club to tie blankets.  Volunteers have made 55 blankets and will continue their efforts.  When the blankets are done, they will be given to the Eau Claire Area School District for students who are homeless.

BLACK CULTURAL CENTER OPENS AT UWEC

A new Black Cultural Center is open at UW-Eau Claire.  The center is located in Centennial Halland is meant to be a place where black students can build community, relax, andembrace their culture.  The space also features images of black influencers such as Maya Angelou, Malcom X, and Martin Luther King Jr.

BUCKY IS LUCKY IN VEGAS!

A Wisconsin man is leaving Las Vegas with a lot of money.  Officials say the man won one-point-three-million-dollars on Saturday by hitting a royal flush while playing three-card poker at O’Sheas Casino.  He is the third millionaire winner at O’Sheas since 2015.

LOCAL BUSINESS OWNER TO DECORATE GOVERNORS MANSION

An Eau Claire flower shop will be helping decorate the Governor’s Mansion for Christmas.  Sandy O’Connell is the owner of Avalon Floral on Water Street and was chosen to decorate a room in the mansion for the holidays. O’Connell and the rest of her team will spend tomorrow decorating the dining room and nearby powder room with a theme of champagne.

FORMER A.D. BEING SUED

The former athletic director for McDonell Area Catholic School’s is being sued by the school system.  The filing states the Archie Sherbinow is being sued for 15-hundred dollars because of a contract breach of this year’s teacher employment contract.  The school system claims Sherbinow broke his contract by stepping down as athletic director and boys’ basketball coach to take a new position in the Stanley-Boyd School District.  Sherbinow must pay the fine if it’s found that he left before August

FIRE DESTROYS HOME

A mobile home is destroyed after a fire in the Town of Ludington this morning.  The Eau Claire County Sheriff’s Office say Fall Creek firefighters responded just after the fire broke out around two o’clock.  Sheriff’s deputies say everyone made it out of the mobile home near County Highway XX safely but the home is being considered a total loss.

CFPD TO DISCUSS MORE MONEY FOR STAFFING

The Chippewa Falls Police Department is considering upping its budget and adding another police officer.  The Leader-Telegram reports the city finance committee met yesterday to discuss the budget, which would be increased by about 420-thousand dollars.  The city finance manager says about 92-thousand of that would go to adding the new officer while the rest would go to increasing staff wages.  A public hearing on the increased budget is scheduled for December 4th.

DIDJYA SEE THE 19-POINTER?

It’s closer to the famed “TURDY POINTER” than most people will ever get! A 19-point buck will be on display at Scheels in Eau Claire soon thanks to a local hunter.  Thirty-two-year-old Joshua Gawrysiak says he spent two weeks tracking the deer and shot it near the E-O-G Resources sand plant in Chippewa Falls.  Gawrysiak says it’s a buck of a lifetime and he’s even set up a GoFundMe page to pay for the mounting that will likely cost thousands

CHRIS KROEZE CRUISES TO THE NEXT ROUND

Barron native Chris Kroeze is going to the next round of NBC’s The Voice.  Kroez was voted past the round of 24 last night as the second contestant to advance on Blake Shelton’s team.  Kroeze will perform in the round of 12 next.  It airs on NBC next Monday and Tuesday.
