The U.S. Supreme Court is handing a victory to a Christian baker in Colorado. The high court ruled in favor of the man who refused to bake a wedding cake for a same-sex couple.  The baker said he refused to do so on religious grounds.  The high court said the Colorado Civil Rights Commission violated the baker’s rights by displaying hostility about his religious beliefs.

Eau Claire residents are HOOKED on fishing and are taking advantage of National Fishing and Boating Week. The annual Take a Kid Fishing Day was held yesterday at lakes in the area. The first 50 kids arriving at the event got free fishing poles and other door prizes. The kid-friendly event was free and open to the public. And you can TACKLE the waters for another week, National Fishing and Boating Week runs through June 10th.

The tenth annual “Taste of the Valley” is being considered a hit for the taste buds as thousands of people came out to Phoenix Park in Eau Claire yesterday for the festival celebrating the culinary arts, which showcased 16 food vendors from around the area and included-of course, bECause that’s how we roll here in Eau Claire, musical entertainment as well! The event proceeds will go toward fighting hunger in the Chippewa Valley.

Emergency crews say no one was hurt after a vehicle caught fire at an Eau Claire auto shop. Employees noticed that a Dodge Durango that had been towed to the shop for service had smoke coming from the engine Saturday around noon. Crews say the vehicle was on fire when they got to the scene, but it was just mechanical failure to blame for the fire.

A local food bank is searching for a few more sponsors for its summer meal program. Feed My People says its 24 sponsors away from reaching its goal. How it works, is that each sponsor donates 100-dollars, which helps give area kids and families food over the summer. The food bank says it tries to reach families by giving kid meal bags to libraries, summer school, and community sites. Pop up pantries will also be held in Eau Claire and

Sears is closing 72 more stores this year. The retailer announced it will begin closing sales in the near future. The company has burned through nearly five and-a-half billion dollars in cash over the past three years.  Sears says it will come out with a list of the stores that will close later today, no word yet on our local stores-we will keep you posted.

The Eau Claire Chamber of Commerce says a t-shirt scam is circulating in the community.  Chamber officials say a company is calling businesses in town trying to sell sponsorship for Eau Claire North Homecoming t-shirts. School officials say this is not a legitimate company.  Hang up and wait to get your powder blue Huskie gear from the school.
