Both sides of the political fence are looking ahead as the inauguration of governor-elect Tony Evers takes place today.  Democratic strategists believe the governor’s inauguration represents hope, expecting that Evers will deliver on his campaign promises.  On the other side of the ticket, Republicans believe Evers will focus on education and transportation.  Officials from both sides agree that bipartisanship between the incoming governor and the Legislature is needed. EC COLD CASE GETS NEW ATTENTION

The murder of Angelina Wall is continuing to be investigated 18 years after it happened.  Wall was abducted and murdered in January 2001 while walking home from work at the McDonald’s on Hastings Way.  Sheriff Ron Cramer has been on the case since the beginning and will begin new interviews in the next few months.

The Chippewa Valley Match Games brings bowlers to Eau Claire from across the Midwest.  More than a hundred bowlers gathered at Wagner’s lanes Saturday for the weekend competition.  The top 24 bowlers moved on to yesterday’s competition where Chad Nelson won the title match for the second year in a row.  .

AREA HOCKEY HITS BIG GOALS!

Chippewa Falls youth hockey tournaments are bringing a significant impact to the community.  The Chippewa Youth Hockey Association hosts nearly a dozen tournaments each season, adding about 100-thousand dollars in tournament fees, concession stand revenue and raffle monies to their budget.  The funds keep the rink running and have about a 300-thousand dollar economic impact on the community.

CHILDREN’S EVENT FOR EVERS SELLS OUT

The community is excited about Governor-Elect Tony Evers, even the little ones.  The children’s event for Evers’ inauguration sold out yesterday.  Evers delivered a short address at the Madison Kids Gala at Downtown Madison Children’s Museum on Saturday morning.  The museum apologized for canceling walk-up admission, blaming it on high ticket sales.

WINDOW PROPOSAL HARD “SILL” TO LAWMAKERS?

 Madison businesses that leave their doors or windows open could be fined under a new proposal.  The proposed ordinance would fine businesses 50-dollars for a first offense and one-hundred dollars for a second.  For any third or subsequent offense, they would be charged 250-dollars.  The proposal, which comes amid the ongoing fight against climate change, will be introduced next week.  The Greater Madison Chamber of Commerce is currently reviewing the proposal.

We now know the name of the man involved in a gunshot incident heading into the weekend. It was just after 11:30 Friday night when the Eau Claire County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of gunshots in the area of the Pine Edge Mobile Home Park, located at W3940 Mitchell Rd, in the Township of Brunswick. SHELL LAKE MAN STARTS YEAR WITH 6TH OWI

A 38 year old Shell Lake picked up a 6th OWI over the weekend. It was just after 1:30 Saturday afternoon when a Trooper stopped a 200 Chrysler 300 for speeding on Hwy 253 @ Wildlife Road in Washburn County. The driver was identified as Robin Johnson, from Shell Lake. A subsequent investigation which included field sobriety testing resulted in the driver being arrested for a  6th offense.

A train collision in Clark County leaves an 87 year old Owen man dead. It was just before 10 on Saturday morning the Wisconsin State Patrol received a report of a train versus automobile crash at the crossing located at Berglin Avenue, South of Pine Road in Clark County.
