 A woman is facing two felony counts of obstruction in Chippewa Falls for allegedly causing trouble with firefighters.  Fire fighters say they were recently dealing with a gas leak at a building near Murray and Jackson Streets when 39-year-old Sara Gordon barged in and began shouting at them.  The fire chief warned Gordon that if she didn’t let them do their job that she would be arrested, but she persisted.  She’s expected to appear in court on December 26th. 

A public hearing will be held in Chippewa Falls next week on an updated bicycle and pedestrian plan.  The hearing is expected to allow residents to give their opinion on bicycle and pedestrian issues in the city.  The hearing will take place tomorrow (TUESDAY Oct. 16th) at 4:30 p.m. at the Chippewa Falls Area Chamber of Commerce.

A conservation area in Union is expanding.  The town of Union and Landmark Conservancy recently added about 40 acres to the Kiwanis Youth Forest.  The forest has now expanded to about 125 acres and welcomes activities such as hiking and snowshoeing.  The town plans to continue to expand the property and add a formal trail system with scenic views. 

A group Of Wisconsin National Guardsmen just returning from helping Hurricane Florence victims in North Carolina, is back on the road to help those in Florida.  Governor Scott Walker ordered the team of 12 guardsman to head to Florida Friday, heading into the weekend.  They’ll use a pair of Blackhawk helicopters to help rescue stranded people and get resources into areas battered by Hurricane Michael. 

A familiar name kicks off a new campaign. Eau Claire’s acting City Council president, Andrew Werthmann is running to become the Council President.  Werthmann says tackling poverty and inequality are important issues to him, along with water, food access, and energy affordability.  

Over 100 United States firefighters are being honored and remembered at a memorial ceremony in Eau Claire.  Lieutenant Andrew Dorn is with the Eau Claire Fire Department and Honor Guard, and he says yesterday’s annual ceremony started in 1991.  Each firefighter’s name was read aloud and a bell was rung. The ceremony remembered firefighters who gave their lives in 2017 in the line of duty.

We could soon be pulling money FROM the books, FOR the books. The L.E. Phillips Memorial Library in Eau Claire is looking at a 23-million dollar expansion and upgrades to its technology infrastructure.   The library hasn’t had any major renovations since moving into the current building in 1976.  Circulation, technology use, and attendance at events have expanded, with nearly 12-hundred visitors each day.

An Eau Claire woman is facing charges after being accused of child abuse.  Jolene Lokrantz was charged yesterday in Eau Claire County with four counts including mental harm to a child.  The criminal complaint says she would get physical with family members and that she body shamed a teen girl.  The teen victim says Lokrantz would also choke her sometimes when she was on drugs. 

We have an update on a local woman who has been missing. You have likely heard about this or maybe you have seen her on your Facebook feed. She has been found safe.  Erin Vandewiele sent concerning texts to friends before going missing for two months is safe after being found in Denver. Police haven’t given any details about when or where she was found. She moved to Denver in June with Joe Mayer, a man she had been seeing

A drug bust is landing three Madison men in jail.  Police executed search warrants at an apartment and two storage lockers on Tuesday and arrested Louis Boatner Junior, Joseph Glenzer-Morton and Stanley Edwards.  Cops seized almost three pounds of cocaine, eight guns, more than 60-thousand-dollars in cash and two vehicles.  The cocaine seized has a street value more than 125-thousand-dollars.
