HAYWARD MAN FACES 10 COUNTS OF CHILD PORNOGRAPHY

The Wisconsin Department of Justice (DOJ) Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force and Sawyer County Sheriff’s Office announced that James A. Hatcher was charged for ten counts of possession of child pornography. On June 5, law enforcement executed a search warrant on Mr. Hatcher’s residence in Hayward, Wis. and he was taken into custody. 3 INJURED IN TWO CAR CRASH

Three people have minor injuries after a two car crash in Eau Claire County.  The sheriff’s office says two cars were westbound on Highway 12 yesterday afternoon when one was rear-ended while slowing down to turn.  A man and a woman in one car and a woman in the other car all received non-life threatening injuries.  The person driving the car that caused the crash was cited for inattentive operation.

1 DEAD, 1 CRITICAL CONDITION AFTER MADISON IRONMAN TRIATHLON

One person is dead and another is in critical condition after being rescued from Lake Monona.  The Madison Fire Department says both people were participating in the Ironman Triathlon in Madison yesterday.  The Dane County Medical Examiner is identifying one victim as Michael McCulloch of Cottage Grove.  He drowned.  There’s no update on the second competitor who was hospitalized.

LOCAL EVENT A SUCCESS

Thousands of dollars are being raised for ALS awareness after the annual ALS Walk and Wheel-a-thon in Chippewa Falls.  Reports say about 300 people attended the race over the weekend.  Organizers estimate it raised about 20-thousand dollars.

BREWERS HIT HOME RUN FOR COMMUNITY

Many Milwaukee residents have free groceries thanks to the Milwaukee Brewers.  Last Friday outfielders Christian Yelich and Ryan Braun spent the day at a local Pick-n-Save ringing up and bagging groceries for unsuspecting customers along with paying for them.  It was part of the team’s hashtag kindness-in-MKE initiative.

TRAFFIC CHANGES FOR BLUE OX

Part of Crescent Avenue in Eau Claire will be restricted on Thursday for the Blue Ox Music Festival.  The county sheriff’s office will restrict traffic on Crescent from Curvue Road to South Town Hall Road from 6:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m.  Traffic will return to normal for the rest of the festival through Saturday at the Whispering Pines Campground.

NOT EVERYONE FLYING HIGH OVER FLAG

At least one Wisconsin lawmaker is questioning the decision to fly the rainbow flag above the Wisconsin Capitol.  Waukesha Republican state Rep. Scott Allen took to Twitter last week and called the flag divisive.  He says not everyone in Wisconsin agrees with celebrating the LGBT lifestyle.  Governor Evers ordered the flag flown this month, to celebrate pride month

LOCAL TROOPS MOBILIZED

About 400 troops from western Wisconsin will head to Afghanistan this summer.  The 1st Battalion, 128th Infantry out of Eau Claire is being mobilized.  Guard commanders say they will provide security for coalition forces in the region.  Soldiers from Menomonie, New Richmond, Rice Lake, Arcadia, Onalaska, River Falls and Abbotsford will all make the trip.

TWO INJURED IN MOTORCYCLE CRASH

One of the people on a motorcycle that ran into a deer in Polk County had to be flown to the hospital.  Deputies say two people were hurt yesterday when they crashed into a deer on County Road K, just west of State Highway 65.
