A Madison woman who thought she was talking with FBI agents about a warrant for her arrest is scammed out of nearly nine-thousand-dollars.  Police today say the victim got a call earlier this month from someone claiming to be an FBI Deputy Inspector.  He claimed there was a warrant out for the victim’s arrest because her name and social security number had been used to open numerous bank accounts now associated with money laundering.  The woman paid the scammer with

While the Powerball jackpot continues to rise, there is a-million-dollar winner in Madison.  Lottery officials say the winning ticket for last night’s drawing was bought at Pick-n-Save on Shopko Drive in Madison.  A 50-thousand-dollar Powerball ticket was also sold at a Speedway in Oak Creek.  Lottery winners have 180 days from the day of the drawing to claim their prize.

REWARD OFFERED IN CLOSS CASE

A 25-thousand dollar reward is being offered for information on the location of missing Wisconsin teenager Jayme Closs.  In a statement yesterday, police officials urged the public to call in with any tips they may have on the 13-year-old Barron girl’s whereabouts.  Closs hasn’t been seen since October 14th, a day before both of her parents were found dead.  Barron County Sheriff Chris Fitzgerald thanked the two-thousand people who helped contribute with a recent search, but said nothing of any usefulness turned

EC SUBSTITUTE TEACHER FACING CHARGES

An Eau Claire substitute is facing charges after being accused of inappropriately touching two students while teaching.  Authorities say 65-year-old Charles Pollard was charged yesterday with two counts of first degree child sexual assault, sexual contact with a child under age 13.  The criminal complaint says Pollard touched two students at South Middle School on October 15th.  Pollard denies the charges.

An Eau Claire foster agency is honoring a nonprofit organization that provides free clothing to children in foster care.  And Family Services presented Wisconsin Foster Closet with a Champion for Children Award at the Gather, Grog, and Give event held at Lazy Monk Brewing last night.  The goal of the event is the raise awareness of the need for foster parents.

GOT ELK?

It’s not that Joe Wiltzius shot an elk, he had a permit, it’s where he shot the elk that got him into trouble.   Wisconsin conservation police ticketed Wiltzius after they say he shot the elk while it was standing in the middle of the road in Round Lake Township last week.  It is illegal to shoot an animal from across the street, or to shoot it while it is in the street.  Wiltzius is facing a possible two thousand-dollar fine.  Wiltzius
