CLOSS REWARD MONEY COULD GO TO JAYME

There are questions about who’ll get the 50 thousand-dollars in reward money in Jayme Closs’ kidnapping case.  The Kasinskas family who took-in Jayme after her rescue say they don’t want the money.  They say she should get it because ‘she got herself out.’  The FBI says it’s looking into the case to see where the money should go.

BADGERCARE BATTLE

Republicans in Madison are making it clear, they will not expand BadgerCare.  Top Republican leaders told reporters after a meeting with Governor Tony Evers yesterday that they will not accept his plan to expand Medicaid to families making more  than the federal poverty level.  Evers says he may still include the idea in his budget.  Assembly Speaker Robin Vos says expanding government healthcare will hurt people looking for work in the private sector.

SHOPKO FILING FOR CHAPTER 11

Shopko is filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, saying it has nearly a half-a-billion-dollars in debt.  WBAY-TV says the Ashwaubenon-based retailer plans to close 38 stores and relocate 20 optical centers to freestanding locations.  It will conduct an auction for the pharmacy business.  It’s not yet known which stores will close.

NEW FACE ON THE SIDELINES

Nathaniel Hackett is the new Packers offensive coordinator.  The team announced the hiring today.  Hackett spent the last four seasons as the Jacksonville Jaguars quarterbacks coach and offensive coordinator before being fired in late November.  Hackett has also worked with the Buffalo Bills and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

WARNING: GOFUNDME FAKE

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office reports fake GoFundMe pages are being set up for Jayme Closs’ accused kidnapper Jake Patterson.  The sheriff’s office says the accounts are being set up through hacked Facebook accounts and that one person who was hacked is now receiving threats.  The accounts are currently being investigated and anyone in connection to them will be prosecuted.

MAN ACCUSED OF STALKING TEEN AT WORK

An Eau Claire man is accused of stalking and harassing a teenager at a local grocery store.  A criminal complaint claims 22-year-old Robert Sahr used to be a manager at the store and developed a friendship with a 16-year-old male employee last Fall.  The teen says Sahr became obsessed and started spending all his time with him and even threatened to rape him.  Sahr is charged with felony counts of stalking a person under 18 and child enticement and is

MORE JAIL TIME FOR MAN WHO BEAT INMATE

A man will do two months in jail for beating an inmate while in Eau Claire County Jail.  Twenty-nine-year-old Erio Oliver pleaded no contest to one felony count of battery by a prisoner yesterday in a 2016 incident in which an officer saw him hitting an inmate over and over again causing him to be sent to the hospital.  Oliver is also charged with 20 counts of child pornography possession in a separate case from 2015.  His trial is scheduled
