The man who pleaded guilty to kidnapping Jayme Closs and killing her parents in Wisconsin will spend the rest of his life in prison. The judge sentenced Jake Patterson to two sentences of life in prison without parole for the murders of James and Denise Closs. The trial will stay in Chippewa County as the man accused of the deadly crash that killed three Girl Scouts and a mother in Lake Hallie has entered a plea this afternoon in court. Colten Treu, pleaded not guilty to all counts in the same courtroom that the judge said is where the trial would be heard. Taylor County officials say a two-year-old girl has died in a farming accident.  Authorities say the girl’s 12-year-old brother was operating a skid loader when he accidentally ran over her.  The accident happened last night in the Town of Aurora.  Officials say the boy was working feeding hay when the girl darted in front of the equipment and her brother didn’t see her. 

Wisconsin is joining the effort to forgive student loan debt for permanently disabled veterans.  Attorney General Josh Kaul says today it is the right thing to do.  He joins 51 other Attorneys General urging the U.S. Department of Education to automatically forgive loans of veterans who became totally and permanently disabled in connection with their military service.  

The average price for a gallon of regular gas in Wisconsin is down a penny-a-gallon compared to a week ago.  Heading into the weekend, Triple-A says the average price statewide is two-dollars-and-83-cents, while the national average is two-84.  Drivers in Kenosha County are paying the highest price at the pump at three-dollars a gallon.  The lowest average price can be found in Appleton at two-70 for a gallon of regular gas.

Before becoming the booming artist and entrepreneur haven it is today, Banbury Place, located at 930 Galloway St. in Eau Claire, Wis., was the massive Uniroyal tire factory. Beginning next week, the history of this 1.9 million square-foot factory will be honored through the Uniroyal Tire Factory Gallery. About 350 Wisconsin citizen soldiers are coming back home.  The troops, part of the 121st Field Artillery, started arriving in Milwaukee yesterday.  The rest of them will arrive today.  The troops spent about nine months on deployment in the Middle East. 

An Eau Claire man convicted of supplying drugs to someone who died is facing more charges.  Reports say Dustin LeShock pleaded guilty to giving Isaac Repetto the heroin that killed him in 2016 but he was released from prison in January.  Now, LeShock is charged with drunk driving, possession of cocaine with intent to deliver, and battery in two separate cases.  He’s currently out on 25-hundred dollars bond. 

A plan to build Wisconsin’s first large-scale solar farm is moving forward after an attempt to stop it.  If you paged through The Chippewa Herald, you likely saw reports that some Iowa County residents wanted to stop construction of the Badger Hollow project by claiming it was approved without considering the environmental impact or its effect on land use.  State regulators denied that request yesterday.
