The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office reports fake GoFundMe pages are being set up for Jayme Closs’ accused kidnapper Jake Patterson.  The sheriff’s office says the accounts are being set up through hacked Facebook accounts and that one person who was hacked is now receiving threats.  The accounts are currently being investigated and anyone in connection to them will be prosecuted.

MAN ACCUSED OF STALKING TEEN AT WORK

An Eau Claire man is accused of stalking and harassing a teenager at a local grocery store.  A criminal complaint claims 22-year-old Robert Sahr used to be a manager at the store and developed a friendship with a 16-year-old male employee last Fall.  The teen says Sahr became obsessed and started spending all his time with him and even threatened to rape him.  Sahr is charged with felony counts of stalking a person under 18 and child enticement and is

MORE JAIL TIME FOR MAN WHO BEAT INMATE

A man will do two months in jail for beating an inmate while in Eau Claire County Jail.  Twenty-nine-year-old Erio Oliver pleaded no contest to one felony count of battery by a prisoner yesterday in a 2016 incident in which an officer saw him hitting an inmate over and over again causing him to be sent to the hospital.  Oliver is also charged with 20 counts of child pornography possession in a separate case from 2015.  His trial is scheduled

FARMERS FEELING THE HIT

CHIPPEWA FALLS AGING WELL

The City of Chippewa Falls is planning its 150th anniversary celebration for this summer.  The city was officially settled on March 25th, 1869.  City officials don’t have any concrete plans for the celebration and Mayor Greg Hoffman says anyone with ideas should submit them to the city planner.  For its 100th anniversary in 1969 many men grew lengthy beards and there was also a commemorative pin for the city.

PATTERSON MOVED TO POLK CO. JAIL; MORE DETAILS EMERGE IN CLOSS CASE

The man charged in the kidnapping of Jayme Closs and the murders of her parents is being held in a different facility.  Jake Patterson was moved Monday from the Barron County Jail to a jail in Polk County.  Jayme was missing for nearly three months before she escaped from Patterson’s home in Gordon, Wisconsin late last week.  Patterson has admitted to investigators that he committed the murders and the kidnapping.  Barron County authorities say they knew deputies had passed a single vehicle

A TOAST TO THE LIQUOR LICENSE?

A conservative legal group is suing for clarification over whether wedding barns will require a liquor license to serve alcohol.  The Wisconsin Institute for Law and Liberty says former Republican Attorney General Brad Schimel put the wedding barn industry in limbo after issuing an informal legal opinion.  The opinion suggests such barns are public venues which would require them to have liquor licenses.

The Eau Claire City-County Health Department says one in ten area high schoolers has used marijuana in the last 30 days.  A youth risk behavior survey says the statistic has remained steady since 2004.  The survey also says the perception among Eau Claire high schoolers of the risk of marijuana has dropped since 2004.
