Authorities in Polk County are looking for a missing teenage girl. Reports say 15-year-old Alyssa Merrill went missing from Balsam Lake Sunday night and hasn’t been seen since. Merrill’s believed to be wearing a black hoodie and black leggings. Anyone who sees her is asked to call the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.

The county sheriff’s office says the car was turning off of State Highway 73 early Tuesday morning when it hit a driveway embankment and went airborne. Passenger Laurie Oleson died at the scene and driver Bonnie Obrien was taken to the hospital in stable condition.

A judge made that ruling in the case against Shane Johnson yesterday. Johnson is accused of selling a deadly dose of drugs to Nicholas Buck and Samuel Ott who died four days apart in November of 2017. Johnson is already in prison on federal drug charges. He’s facing just under 200 years in this case.

A criminal complaint says Daniel Mikkelsen was stopped in Chippewa County back in February and tested with a blood-alcohol level just over the legal limit. Mikkelson was sentenced to prison yesterday along with being placed on probation for three years following his sentence. He must also serve 300 hours of community service and have an ignition interlock for one year.

A man who lived at the farm where the Diemels went to look at cattle, Garland “Joey” Nelson, is in jail for driving the brothers’ pickup truck. A judge ordered him held without bond.

Prosecutors filed child neglect charges yesterday against 29-year-old Teresa Grassel and 28-year-old Tyler Zais. Police say the two smoked marijuana and meth while their six-year-old and two-year-old children were at home with them. Doctors told police both children have developmental issues, possibly caused by drug use at home.
