Two people are in custody after a police chase in Altoona. Reports say police tried to pull over a car on River Prairie Drive late Sunday night but it sped up. The chase took police to a dead-end alley where three suspects left the car on foot. Police eventually caught Kaylee Berg and Brent Erickson and charged them with obstructing an officer. Berg is also facing a meth charge.

According to the La Crosse County Health Department, there were only five fentanyl overdoses in the county between 2013 and 2016 but that number jumped to 23 between 2017 and the first half 2018. The Center for Disease Control says the number of fentanyl overdoses across the country rose by more than one-thousand percent between 2011 and 2016.
