LOOSEN UP THE BELTS, WI STATE FAIR OPENS

Brats, tots and all kinds of desserts are on tap at the Wisconsin State Fair.  The fair opens tomorrow in West Allis with plenty of new culinary delicacies on the menu.  Fairgoers can get breakfast on a stick, chicken bacon ranch sliders, Caribbean smoothies and tacos made with crickets and gourmet frozen fruit pops with real grasshoppers.  There is plenty of traditional fare at the fair as well.

MAN ARRESTED AFTER LA CROSSE SHOOTING INCIDENT

A man is in custody in connection with a shooting at a bar in La Crosse.  Police say they heard a single gunshot in the 100 block of 3rd Street North early Sunday morning.  Police say Robert Powell the fourth got into a fight, fired a gun, and ran away.  He was recently arrested after police reviewed public and private video footage of the incident.

JIM FALLS MAN ACCUSED OF DRUG HOUSE

A Jim Falls man is accused of operating a drug house.  A criminal complaint says police encountered Gerald Sachsenmaier at Rock Fest in Cadott earlier this month.  It says he had meth, prescription pills, and cash with him at the time.  More drugs were also reportedly found in his home during a search.  Sachsenmaier is facing three charges relating to the case.

WI WEATHER SWINGS EXTREME…UFF DA!

Some of the most extreme weather on the entire continent happens right here in Wisconsin.  According to International Arctic Research Center Climatologist Brian Bettschneider, the difference in lowest wind chills to highest heat indexes felt this year is over 165 degrees in some parts of the state.  Eau Claire saw a difference of 158 degrees while La Crosse saw a difference of 168 degrees.  One spot in Minnesota saw a difference of 180 degrees.  On that note, after our latest round

MORE DETAILS, NO ANSWERS

We have more details, but no answers after a press conference yesterday. Sheriff Jim Kowalczyk yesterday said text messages on 33-year-old Ritchie German Jr.’s cell phone and evidence in his car leads him to believe that German may have been planning to take 24-year-old Laile Vang.  German is accused of killing her and three members of his family. He also shot and wounded Vang’s parents.  The sheriff says they may never know German’s true motive.

TRAFFIC STOP LEADS TO METH BUST

Earlier this month, on the 26th approximately 9:41am, Marshfield officers performed a traffic stop on E Veterans Parkway and E 29th St (STH 13). Upon contact with the driver, it was confirmed he had a valid warrant through the Department of Corrections. A K9 sniff was performed and the K9 indicated the presence of controlled substance within the vehicle. WOMAN INVOLVED IN DEADLY CRASH SAYS SHE DOESN’T REMEMBER WRECK

The young woman accused of texting while driving ahead of a deadly 2017 crash in Chippewa County says she doesn’t remember the wreck.  A judge yesterday set Miranda Jo Miller’s signature bond at ten-thousand-dollars.  Miller is being blamed for a wreck in July of 2017 in the Town of Colburn.  Forty-six-year-old Jeremy Goodwin died in the crash.  Investigators say Miller was checking her phone every 30 seconds before the crash.

WI CALLS FOR WATER CLEAN UP

Wisconsin is joining 21 other states in asking Congress for money to clean-up PFAS pollution.  Attorney General Josh Kaul yesterday signed-on to a push from other Democratic attorneys general to ask the federal government to provide states with the money to test for the chemicals, then clean-up their water supplies.  PFAS chemicals are found in everything from non-stick spray to firefighting foam.  Governor Tony Evers this month asked over 100 local water systems in Wisconsin to start testing for PFAS chemicals.

POLITICAL MAP LEADS TO STATIC IN MADISON
