PARENTS CONNECTED TO NEWBORN DEATH

The parents of a newborn boy are facing charges in  connection to his death.  The Wood County Sheriff’s Department says officers were notified Saturday by the Marshfield Medical Center about a possible missing newborn.  He was found in a plastic bag in the vehicle of his 19-year-old father Allen Rice.  Rice and the infant’s mother, 22-year-old Marylinn Feher, both face child neglect causing death charges and a homicide charge may be added against the mother.  *Photo Credit WEAU 13 NEWS

EVERS LEADS LEAD MEASURES

Governor Tony Evers says lead poisoning is a risk to children statewide and legislators need to do everything in their power to fix it.  The governor posted a map today with red dots representing where kids under the age of six tested positive for lead poisoning.  The greatest clusters of contamination were in Milwaukee, Watertown and Racine as well as in seven counties including Sheboygan, Rock, Marquette and Dodge.  The rates of lead poisoning among children in those areas are

Chippewa is adding two new deputies to it’s ranks. Brian V. Sands is a 2 ½ year veteran with the City of Bradenton, Florida Police Department. WHINE-TER WEATHER STORM HEADING OUR WAY

West central Wisconsin may miss out on the worst of the upcoming winter storm.  According to the National Weather Service, Eau Claire is expected to get anywhere from two to four inches of snow overnight with the possibility of sleet and freezing rain tomorrow morning.  In northern Wisconsin, anywhere from three to seven inches of snow is expected to fall starting tonight through Friday morning.

CHIPPEWA COUNTY MAN ACCUSED OF SEXUAL ASSAULT

A Chippewa County man is accused of sexually assaulting a child.  A criminal complaint filed yesterday claims Timothy Geissler assaulted a child in his car in December of 2017.  Geissler is charged with second-degree sexual assault and is being held on five-thousand dollars bond.

ONALASKA FIRE CHIEF FACING CHARGES

The Onalaska fire chief is facing drunk driving charges.  A police report says Billy Hayes was pulled over early Sunday morning and identified himself to police as the fire chief.  Hayes later failed a field sobriety test and was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated.  Hayes reportedly had a blood-alcohol level of point-one-three, over one-and-a-half times the legal limit.

BANBURY FIRE UNDER INVESTIGATION

No one is hurt after a fire at an industrial building in Eau Claire.  The fire department says the fire broke out within some machinery at Banbury Place on Wisconsin Street early this morning.  The building was quickly evacuated, the fire was extinguished, and workers were able to return afterwards.  The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.

RED BARN COMES DOWN

The Red Barn Coliseum at the Northern Wisconsin State Fairgrounds is no longer standing.  The barn was demolished yesterday in a matter of hours after it was decided that it was no longer safe.  Fallen rafters and broken beams were found and part of the roof had started sinking.  The fair’s executive director says he will now work to replace it.

“Weather” you are ready for more winter or not, it looks like it’s storming back to remind us who is in charge. Folks in Eau Claire could see five inches of snow from the spring snowstorm that is due to arrive today.  While folks up Highway 53 in Rice Lake could see almost double that.  Forecasters say western Wisconsin will miss the worst of this week’s storm, but will still see plenty of snow.  The storm is due to arrive later today

CHIPPEWA FALLS MAN GETS PROBATION

A Chippewa Falls man who threatened to kill his family is getting one more chance.  A judge on Monday didn’t send 43-year-old Lorenzo Christopher to jail despite a guilty plea and the fact the Christopher’s girlfriend said he threatened to kill her, her kids and their dog.  Police say Christopher has a felony record, and therefore shouldn’t even have a gun.  The judge sentenced Christopher to probation.
