It is going to be almost a week before voters in Eau Claire know who won yesterday’s elections. The state’s Election Commission says local clerks cannot count their votes until next Monday. There may not be that many votes to count. Turnout in many places in the Chippewa Valley was light yesterday. EC MAN FACING CHARGES AFTER GUN INCIDENT

An Eau Claire County man is looking at charges after investigators say he almost shot his neighbor. The sheriff’s office says Jason Moessner was shooting his pistol toward his neighbor’s house. The neighbor says he was almost hit. Prosecutors filed second degree recklessly endangering safety charges this week. This is not Moessner’s first gun charge. He was arrested in 2018 after police say he shot at his truck during the Winterfest games on Lake Altoona.

CHIME IN ON WHAT WOULD HELP

Leaders in Chippewa County are asking people to tell them what they need during this coronavirus outbreak. The county is asking people to fill out a community needs assessment. It’s an online survey that the Chippewa County Department of Public Health can then use to tell state and federal leaders what the needs are. POLLS OPEN UNTIL 8, RESULTS EXPECTED NEXT WEEK

Polls close across the state at 8:00 tonight but don’t expect results for several days.  Voters are allowed to submit absentee ballots as long as they are postmarked by today, April 7th and received by Monday.  It will take a couple of days for clerks to collect all the ballots so now the counting deadline is at 4 p.m. Monday, April 13th.  The Wisconsin Elections Commission says no totals will be released today.  As our Primary Election continues today, voting across the

CASE COUNT CLIMBS IN WI

Positive coronavirus cases in Wisconsin now stand at 25-hundred-and-78.  There are 92 total deaths reported today, 15 more than yesterday.  There have been eleven deaths confirmed in Dane County, 49 in Milwaukee County, seven in Ozaukee County and five deaths in Waukesha County.

POLLS OPEN UNTIL 8PM

It’s election day. The Wisconsin Primary election is moving forward as scheduled despite Governor Evers attempt to order that in-person voting be cancelled and the election be moved to June. The state’s Supreme Court overruled that order yesterday. The ballot includes races for city council and school board, the Democratic presidential primary, and the Wisconsin Supreme Court. Polling places are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

FARMERS MARKETS DELAY OPENING

The La Crosse Farmer’s Market Association is delaying the opening of the farmers market.  The association says the delay is to maintain safety measures during the COVID-19 pandemic.  Market Manager Linda Vale says they’re working with officials to guide customers and vendors through safe shopping and vending.

ALL (CLEAN) HANDS ON DECK

River Distillery is partnering with local businesses to make homemade hand sanitizer. Kurt Schneider with the distillery says he’s happy local businesses can come together when the community needs them. Schneider says volunteers from around the community are helping to bottle and label the new product, and the distillery will donate some hand sanitizer free to the healthcare industry, local rest homes, emergency responders, and police departments.

CLEAN IS MY JAM

A Chippewa Valley cab company is offering sanitized rides. The Ride Jam says the taxis are sanitized with a special machine that kills COVID-19 and other viruses. Owner Matt Boetcher says the company did this to provide a safe and luxurious ride to each customer. Boetcher says each car is cleaned before picking up a rider.
