PLUCKING CHICKEN RECALL INFORMATION

Wisconsin is included in a national chicken recall.  The USDA says Perdue Foods is pulling 31 thousand-pounds of ready to eat chicken from shelves because it may contain pieces of bone.  The chicken was packaged in March and had best if used by dates in late May.  Regulators say people need to check their freezer for possibly contaminated packages.   WANT TO KNOW MORE? STATE SUPREME COURT CANDIDATES CHIME IN

EVERS PUSHES FOR RESEARCHERS

OH, DEER!

Authorities are warning people in Wisconsin to be extra careful when they drive because June is a prime time for dangerous deer crashes in the state.  The state Department of Transportation says white-tailed deer start moving around when summer starts, namely females looking for a spot to give birth.  The DOT said June is when drivers are most likely to be injured in a deer/car accident because people tend to drive faster in summer and more motorcycles are on the road.

CASINO CLOSE TO JACKPOT

The City of Beloit says a proposed casino is a step closer to reality.  Officials said today a significant step was taken in the process when the Bureau of Indian Affairs said a final environmental impact statement is now available.  The next step towards approval of the Ho-Chunk Casino will be a public comment period, before Governor Evers weighs in.

WEEKEND ROAD TRIP COSTS A LITTLE BIT LESS

The average price for a gallon of regular gas in Wisconsin is down a penny-a-gallon compared to a week ago.  Triple-A says the average price statewide is two-dollars-and-83-cents, a penny higher than the national average.  Drivers in Racine are paying the highest price at the pump at two-96-a-gallon.  The lowest average price can be found in the Janesville-Beloit area at two-70 for a gallon of regular gas.

STANLEY MAN TO PRISON FOR MULTIPLE CRIMES

A Stanley man will go to prison after pleading no contest to multiple crimes including methamphetamine delivery, theft, and escape.  Reports say Keith Nelson was arrested during a trade setup in Boyd in February where Nelson was supposed to sell drugs to an informant in exchange for a car.  Nelson was also accused of selling stolen welding equipment in October of last year and escaping a work release facility in May of last year.  He’ll be sentenced in August.
