OFFICER INVOLVED SHOOTING REMAINS UNDER INVESTIGATION

Wisconsin Department of Justice continues to investigate an officer involved shooting that happened earlier this month on November 5th. Law enforcement with the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, Sparta Police Department, and Wisconsin State Patrol responded to a local business for a domestic violence-related 911 call. Patrons were barricaded inside the business, and law enforcement negotiated with a male subject carrying a firearm outside the business. WI LAW SCHOOLS TOP LIST

A pair of Wisconsin law schools are among the tops in the country.  The new 2020 report from the Princeton Review released this month includes the University of Wisconsin and Marquette University Law School among the nation’s 167 best.  The schools were cited by the Princeton Review after surveying 19-thousand students and administrators nationwide.  Fourteen metrics were considered including academics, quality of campus life and best career prospects.

GOV. EVERS URGES VETS RESOURCES

FIRE SENDS ONE TO HOSPITAL

One person is in the hospital after a fire in Colfax.  The fire was reported at the corner of Viking Drive and King Olaf Court around eight o’clock Sunday night.  Police say one person was hospitalized with burns and another person was treated for smoke inhalation.  The cause of the fire is unknown.

“DONUT BOY” DELIVERS SWEET GIFTS

The Shorewood Hills Police Department has new boots thanks to a 12-year-old boy from Florida.  Over the last three years Tyler Carach has been delivering donuts to police officers in all 50 states, earning him the title Donut Boy.  Over the weekend Carach delivered boots to the Madison-area police department after it won a national contest.  Shorewood Hills is one of multiple departments with less than 25 members to receive free boots.

WE SALUTE OUR VETERANS AND FAMILIES

End of deployment happens for some in the active military just in time for Veterans Day. Hundreds of members of the Wisconsin National Guard’s 115th Fighter Wing returned from a four month deployment to Afghanistan yesterday. The nearly 300 troops spent their time overseas supporting the allied mission and helping coalition troops. ICY CONDITIONS FACTOR IN DEADLY CRASH

One person is dead after a weekend crash in Polk County. It happened Saturday on State Highway 87. Deputies say a man from St. Paul, Minnesota died in the wreck. The Polk County Sheriff’s office says it looks like icy roads caused the crash.

APPLETON MAN PICKS UP 12TH OWI

A man is likely looking at time behind bars after his 12th drunk driving arrest. Jeroe Pomeroy, who is from Appleton, was arrested Saturday after police say he crashed into two parked cars in the Village of Pigeon Falls, in Trempealeau County. No one was hurt. Pomeroy wasn’t supposed to be driving at all, as his license had been suspended from a previous OWI case.

GOV. EVERS ISSUES MORE PARDONS

Wisconsin’s governor is clearing more people from their criminal past. Governor Tony Evers yesterday issued eight more pardons. The latest list includes a man who had a conviction in his 20s for drugs and guns, and another who served time for dealing in stolen hot tubs. The governor has now issued 12 pardons during his first year in office.

MORE BUCK$ FOR BUCKYLAND EMPLOYEES

Some state workers, including people at the University of Wisconsin Madison, are getting the first of what could be several raises. The governor’s office last week said he plans to raise the minimum wage for all full time workers for the state to 15 dollars-an-hour. It’s unclear how many people in state government will get a bump, but the promise could mean more money for workers at UW Madison. Currently, the minimum wage on campus is 13-dollars and 27-cents.
