EARLY MORNING FIRE DAMAGES HOME

The Eau Claire Fire Department responded to an early morning fire on Garden St. It was a bit before 3 on Sunday morning when crews arrived to find fire throughout the attached garage and a portion of the house. The fire was under control within the hour, however, fire crews and investigators currently remained on scene after that and the fire is still under investigation.

WI REOPENING PRACTICES RELEASED

Governor Tony Evers is sharing the state’s recommended best practices for the reopening from the coronavirus shutdown. The Governor released the best practices document Friday which was compiled by the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation.  They have stipulations and recommendations that apply to all sorts of businesses from hair salons and gyms to white collar offices and manufacturing sites.  The state reopens May 26.  The complete list of reopen guidelines can be found online HERE. WI DECONTAMINATION SYSTEM UP AND RUNNING

A decontamination system for N-95 surgical masks is now up and running in Wisconsin.  Governor Tony Evers’ office announced yesterday that the Battelle Memorial Institute Critical Care Decontamination System cleans the N-95 masks such that they can then be reused up to 20 times before needing to be decontaminated again.  The statement says the Battelle systems will be given out at no cost to healthcare organizations, hospitals, nursing homes, first responder agencies, doctor and dentist offices and many other front

FLYOVER PLANNED FOR FRONT LINE

The Wisconsin Air National Guard’s 115th Fighter Wing plans a flyover in honor of healthcare workers and first responders. The event will happen May 12th in the skies over several communities including Madison, Baraboo, Reedsburg, Tomah and others.  Four F-16s will execute the flyover as part an ongoing nationwide campaign called Operation American Resolve.  The Department of Military Affairs has the details including a complete list of flyover locations HERE.

WI FILL UP CLIMBS UP

 The cost for regular gas in Wisconsin is up nearly 30-cents-a-gallon compared to a week ago.  Triple-A says the average price statewide is a-dollar-66 today.  The national average is one-82.  Drivers in Appleton are paying 35-cents more at a-dollar-57-a-gallon, while the price at the pump is one-67 in Eau Claire, a-dollar-76 in Racine, one-74 in Milwaukee and a-dollar-61 in Madison.

FREE COVID-19 TESTING SITES THIS WEEKEND

Local health departments are hosting free COVID-19 testing this weekend. Testing sites are available today and tomorrow for Pierce and Saint Croix Counties. Testing is at Western Wisconsin Health in Baldwin today (Friday, May 8th) from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., and tomorrow (Saturday, May 9th) at the Saint Croix Valley Business Innovation Center in River Falls from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Testing for Dunn and Eau Claire Counties is also happening Sunday and Monday at Prevea Health on Clairemont Avenue

WOMAN FOUND GUILTY OF STEALING FROM ANIMAL SHELTER

An Eau Claire woman is found guilty of stealing from an Eau Claire animal shelter. Court records show Nicolle Wilson pleaded no contest to two counts of theft and one count of fraud. A criminal complaint shows Wilson was the bookkeeper for the humane society. She was accused of trying to cash a 60-thousand-dollar check.
