Work is underway at Eau Claire Memorial High School as crews started moving dirt to replace the old track at the school last week. A 320 thousand-dollar gift from the Pat and Connie Ulrich Trust is making the work possible. School leaders hope to have the track and field improvements finished by next spring.

WI MILK PRODUCTION DROPS

Dairy farmers in Wisconsin are making less milk than a year ago. The latest numbers from the USDA show a three percent drop in the number of pounds of milk that farmers have produced so far this year. Wisconsin is not the only dairy state to see a drop, California and New York also saw production fall. MANHUNT CONTINUES

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s office and the Wisconsin Department of Justice are on the hunt for a murder and arson suspect.  The case stems from the murder of James Lemke and wife Nedra earlier this week in Sumner.  A Jefferson County deputy found their remains in the home when responding to a burglary call.  The deputy was also fired upon by someone inside the home which was subsequently set on fire. FIRE CLOSES INTERSTATE NEAR LAKE DELTON

The interstate is back open after a car fire in Lake Delton.  All westbound lanes of I-90/I-94 are open again near Highway 23.  Fire crews were on the scene yesterday to get the flames extinguished in the burning car.  There is no word on whether anyone was injured.

GOV EVERS MOVES FORWARD WITH POLICE LEGISLATION
