Broadway is coming to Eau Claire. The Pablo Center announced Waitress will take the stage March 24th, 2021. It’s the first Broadway production to be performed at The Pablo Center. Executive Director Jason Jon Anderson said the show highlights some of humanity’s best qualities, and encourages people to challenge each other to push humanity forward.

NEW ADDITIONS TO EC

A Panda Express and 30-new apartments are coming to Eau Claire. The city Plan Commission approved the building sites for the Chinese-fast-food restaurant and drive-through, and the new apartment complex last night. Panda Express will go up on the corner of East Clairemont Avenue and S-Hastings Way. The apartments will be built on the corner of Gateway Drive and Otteson Lane.

FROM DIVE BAR TO DRIVE-IN

The Chippewa Valley Drive-In is hosting a Garth Brooks concert at the end of the month. The drive-in concert at the Northern Wisconsin State Fairgrounds is scheduled for June 27th. Tickets go on sale June 19th, and cost 100-dollars-per-car, or every six people.

NORTHERN WI STATE FAIR-Y TALES….

Historians want to document the Northern Wisconsin State Fair. The Chippewa County Historical Society is asking residents to share stories from their time at the fair to put into the archives and create a history book that will be released by Christmas time. The proceeds from the book will go to the Chippewa Area History Center. The historical society is asking everyone to send materials to the Area History Center at 123 Allen Street, Chippewa Falls.

WI SEES DOWNWARD TREND

The graph that tracks the coronavirus in Wisconsin is continuing its downward slide. The state’s Department of Health Services yesterday reported 174 positive tests and six thousand negative tests. Both of those numbers are the lowest Wisconsin has seen in two weeks. Since March, nearly 23 thousand people have tested positive for the virus and over 400 thousand people have tested negative.

Farmers across the state can now apply for their share of the state’s coronavirus stimulus money. The Department of Agriculture yesterday said the Wisconsin Farm Support Program is open. PROTESTERS PUSH FOR CHANGE IN MADISON

The calls to defund the police in Madison are now coming at the front door of the city’s mayor. Dozens of people marched to Madison Mayor Satya Rhodes-Conway’s home yesterday to demand she cut the city’s police budget. They want a 50 percent cut. The protesters are still angry at the mayor for her words of support for city police during the worst of Madison’s protests that turned into riots.

WI CLIMATE CHANGE TASK FORCE HEATS UP

Wisconsin’s governor is asking for help in guiding his climate change task force. Governor Evers’ office yesterday said it is accepting input from the public about what the task force should look into, and where it should go. The governor also announced five virtual listening sessions that will also provide a road map for the new task force. Those meetings start next week and go until mid-July.
