Time for a Stanley Landmark to be Renovated

The historic 120-year-old city hall is sold in Stanley. A representative says it was originally built for 17-thousand dollars and is known for it’s clock tower which can be viewed in all four directions. The nine-hundred pound weight used to operate the clock became loose and fell through each floor and landing in the basement. Federal Appeals Court Extends Stay on Absentee Ballot Extension

A federal appeals court is extending a stay on absentee ballot extensions in the state.  That ruling came down Sunday from the 7th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals.  Just last week, a district court judge granted six extra days to county mail-in ballots that were postmarked by election day, November 3rd. Officer Sheskey’s Lawyer Speaks Out

WI COVID-19 Cases Spike

The Wisconsin Department of Health is reporting more than 22-hundred new COVID-19 cases as of Sunday’s update from Milwaukee.  That makes four straight days of more than two-thousand new cases being reported.  Saturday, the state reported a single-day record number of cases, with 28-hundred-17.  To date, 12-hundred-81 patients in Wisconsin have died coronavirus-related deaths since early March.       Here closer to our area, Eau Claire County has 47 new COVID-19 cases.  That’s according to the latest information from health officials. Jill Biden is scheduled to campaign for her husband in Wisconsin today.  The wife of the Democratic presidential nominee will participate in a “Get out and Vote” event in Madison. Wood Co. Crash Sends One to Hospital

A Wisconsin Rapids woman is recovering after a crash in Wood County over the weekend. Police say the 19-year-old victim was driving southbound on Highway 186, when she swerved to avoid hitting an animal. This caused her to lose control and hit an embankment just north of Grant Road. She was airlifted to an area hospital, where she is in stable condition.

Federal Grant Money Available for Local Flood Damage

Federal grant money is being offered to low-to-middle income residents in Eau Claire County who experienced flood damage on July 14th. The grant money is provided by the Community Development Block Grant and can be used for a variety of purposes, including replacing furnaces, water heaters, flooring, well equipment, insulation, and mold remediation.  Reimbursement is also available to homeowners who already made repairs if they can prove the damage was caused by the heavy rainfall on July 14th.  More information

Mitchell Park Domes Reopening
