The Green Bay Packers are sending 250-thousand-dollars to a handful of social justice projects. The team announced the grants yesterday. Building Our Future, The Mary Lou & Arthur F. Mahone Fund, 100 Black Men of Madison, the Urban League of Greater Madison, and Leaders Igniting Transformation will all get 50 thousand-dollars each. This is the Packers’ second social justice donation of 2020. The team sent 150-thousand-dollars to some social justice programs earlier in the year.

It’s not just Wisconsin’s quarterbacks who could miss this Saturday’s game against Nebraska, the entire team may be a scratch. Sources told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel yesterday that the team’s positivity rate is close to the threshold of canceling the game. Wisconsin quarterbacks Graham Mertz and Chase Wolf tested positive for the virus this week. If Wisconsin cannot play, the Big Ten has said it will not reschedule the game this season.

Train Vs. Semi Crash in Barron Co.

A train versus semi crash had personell on the scene just before 11:30 on Tuesday, October 27th. Emergency personnel were on the scene of a train versus semi collision at N 18th St & E Division Ave in Barron. Traffic was reduced to one lane on N 18th St and was periodically closed throughout the day for heavy equipment access.

WI COVID-19 Cases Surpass 5k

It is another record-setting day for COVID-19 cases and deaths in Wisconsin.  The Department of Health Services today says there were over 52-hundred positive tests and 64 deaths from the coronavirus in the past day.  The numbers are the highest recorded in the state to date.  There have been 220 people admitted to hospitals with COVID-19 since yesterday.

President Trump Rallies in Western WI

President Trump is in Wisconsin for a rally in West Salem.  The president and vice president are campaigning in the battleground state with a week to go until the election.  Trump is in West Salem at Motorsports Management Company and Vice President Mike Pence returns to the state tomorrow for an afternoon event at Central Wisconsin Airport in Mosinee.

Not “Gouda” News for Cheese Lovers

The World Championship Cheese Contest is postponed for another year.  The event had been planned for February but organizers today say it has been moved to early March of 2022.  Officials say after studying the options for next year they decided the industry would be best served by pausing the championship until 2022.

UW QB Slated to Miss Games

University of Wisconsin quarterback Graham Mertz is expected to miss three games for the Badgers.  Multiple reports say Mertz tested positive for COVID-19 for the second time this morning.  This validates his first positive test.  In following the Big Ten protocol, Mertz will sit out 21 days and likely miss road games at Nebraska and Michigan as well at a home matchup against Purdue.

Rooftop Ribbon Cutting Planned for Solar Project

The Eau Claire Public Schools Foundation has raised the final monies needed for the Solar on Eau Claire Schools project. It was a combination of match challenges and the community’s advocacy that helped the project complete its fundraising, and the solar arrays’ installation is nearly complete. Pick a Side!

Alternate side parking starts Sunday in Eau Claire. From midnight to 7 a.m. each day, all drivers are required to park on the side of the street where an even or odd number address corresponds with the date. On November 1st, all drivers will be asked to park on the side of the street with odd addresses. The ordinance ends May 1st of next year.
