Biden Leads in Wisconsin

 Wisconsin Elections Commission Administrator Meagan Wolfe is sharing an update about where the state stands in counting ballots. Democrat Joe Biden leads by a little more than 20-thousand votes in the presidential race.  Wolfe said each jurisdiction will canvas its totals today.  President Trump’s campaign has announced they intend to ask for a recount, which they can do since the margin is less than one percent.  President Trump won Wisconsin by about 20-thousand votes four years ago.

Wisconsin favors Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden over President Donald Trump, but it’s nearly too close to call. Almost all the votes have been counted in the state putting former vice president Biden just 20-thousand votes ahead of Trump. Wisconsin is among several remaining states to be decided.

Republican State Representative Jesse James will enter a second term in Wisconsin’s 68th Assembly District. James, a native of Altoona, is a former police officer and fire chief turned politician. James beat Democratic challenger and Eau Claire City Council member Emily Berge. In other local seats, Republican State Representative Shannon Zimmerman will enter his third term in the Wisconsin State Assembly. Zimmerman defeated Sarah Yacoub to win reelection in the 30th Assembly District. The district covers Western Wisconsin’s St. Croix and Pierce counties.

WI Coronavirus Cases Continue to Climb

Eau Claire County is reporting more coronavirus deaths. The city-county health department yesterday said four more deaths are all connected to the virus. There are no specifics on the deaths, including their ages or other health conditions. Since March, 25 people have died with the virus in Eau Claire County.

Kids at Fall Creek Elementary are going to be learning from home for the next two weeks. Superintendent Joe Sanfelippo says they are moving online-only because of a spike in coronavirus. He is not saying, however, just how many students or teachers have tested positive. The hope is to have kids back at Fall Creek Elementary by the week of Thanksgiving.

WI Stimulus Money Headed to Non-Profit Help

The latest piece of Wisconsin’s coronavirus stimulus money is going to non-profits in the state. Governor Tony Evers yesterday set-aside ten-million-dollars for non-profit organizations that help with healthcare, housing and shelter, and adult education. Wisconsin got two billion-dollars in coronavirus stimulus money. Governor Evers says most of it has already been earmarked or spent.

Mother Nature Hits a PR

It wasn’t but a week-or-so ago that Eau Claire set a record for snow and cold in October. Now, Eau Claire has set a record for warmth. Forecasters say yesterday’s high hit 76 degrees. That is the warmest November 3rd since 2008 when the temperature hit 74 degrees. It’s expected to be above 70 degrees all week, but temperatures will drop-off on Monday.

WI A.G. Urges Voter Safety

Wisconsin voters are streaming to the polls as Attorney General Josh Kaul reminds people that voter intimidation is a felony and residents need to know how to report it.  Kaul tweeted information today about what voter intimidation is and how to file a complaint.  Kaul says such intimidation is an attack on our democratic system and anyone who commits the crime must be vigorously prosecuted.

WI COVID-19 Deaths Up

Wisconsin Health Department officials say 52 people died from COVID-19 in the past day.  The state also saw 247 people hospitalized since yesterday.  In the last 24 hours nearly 58-hundred positive tests have been confirmed.  The 52 deaths today raises the number of people killed by the virus in Wisconsin to over 21-hundred.
