The state department of natural resources is asking people to stay near their homes instead of travel around the state to prevent the spread of coronavirus. Fire Causes $10K in Damages

An early morning fire at a local business causes about $10,000 damages. It was around 1am on Friday morning, November 20th, when crews responded to a fire at Hubsch Linen on White Avenue in Eau Claire.  It was determined that the fire started in laundry bins and was quickly extinguished. There were no injuries reported.

Rittenhouse Speaks Out

The teenager charged with killing two people during a protest in Kenosha, Wisconsin this summer over the police shooting of Jacob Blake says he doesn’t regret having a gun that night.  Speaking to the Washington Post by phone, Kyle Rittenhouse said he felt he had to protect himself or he would have died.  The 17-year-old also revealed that he bought the gun using stimulus and unemployment money after losing his part-time job at the start of the pandemic.  Rittenhouse is facing homicide

WI DHS Reports Downward Trend

Thousands of people are testing positive for the coronavirus each day in Wisconsin, but the state says the numbers are trending down. The Wisconsin Department of Health Services yesterday said there’s been a dip in positives in every age group since the first week of the month. DHS yesterday reported 66-hundred new positives and 83 new deaths. There are just over 21 hundred people in the hospital with the virus in Wisconsin, and there are 17 people at the alternative care facility at the

Teen Sentenced to Community Service

A young Eau Claire man will not spend any time in jail for beating a teen in the spring, and broadcasting it on Snapchat. A judge yesterday sentenced Chase Passon to one month of community service. Police say Passon viciously beat the teen, including punching him in the face several times.

Chippewa Schools Plan Online into 2021

Online-only classes in Chippewa Falls will last until at least January 21st. The city’s school district made that announcement yesterday. Superintendent Jeff Holmes last night sent a note to parents that said the expected trajectory for the coronavirus in Chippewa Falls means it won’t be safe to send kids back to class til at least then. WI Recount Begins Today

The hope is to finish counting some of the ballots in Wisconsin’s presidential recount by the end of the day. The recount begins today in Milwaukee and Dane counties. WI Hospitals Call for Cooperation

The top man at the Wisconsin Hospital Association says there are real needs in the state, and the first is the need for some cooperation. Hospital Association President Eric Borgerding said in a letter to Governor Evers and top lawmakers that they need to work together to get ahead of what he says is a crisis that is coming with the spike in coronavirus numbers. WI Covid-19 Struggles Continue

The number of COVID-19 deaths confirmed today is the second-highest total since the pandemic began.  The Department of Health Services says there were 83 deaths in the past 24 hours and 22-hundred patients are in hospitals across the state.  The 83 deaths reported today raises the number of COVID-19 fatalities to 28-hundred-and-76 people.
