The first big winter storm of the season is knocking the power out in New England. The New York Times says over 200-thousand customers lost electricity Saturday as a powerful winter storm brought high winds and heavy snow into the region. The PowerOutage website says over 196-thousand customers lost power in Maine, and over 46-thousand in New Hampshire. Thousands lost power in Connecticut, where local forecasters are warned of black ice on the roads as temperatures dipped below freezing overnight.

The number is well under the eight-thousand or so cases which were the most recorded in a single day so far on November 19th. The tree giveaway is usually only one part of an annual Christmas in the Park event which this year was cancelled due to COVID-19 concerns. Pastor Suzie Genin says the church only had two hundred trees this year and couldn’t meet the demand which was double that amount.

WMTV reported yesterday that Kemps spokesperson Rachel Kyllo says the specialized packaging gives the Giving Cow milk servings a shelf life of up to a year with no refrigeration required. Roundy’s Supermarkets joins with Kemps and the Second Harvest Foodbank of Southern Wisconsin for the distribution of the milk in southwestern Wisconsin communities.
