Spectrum Industries, a local education and computing furniture manufacturer, announces the finalization of a partnership with the Milwaukee Bucks NBA 2K League franchise, Bucks Gaming. The two-year partnership will focus on esports advocacy through a community engagement program, partnering on esports furniture and product design, and collaborative marketing initiatives. WI National Guard to Continue COVID-19 Testing

Wisconsin National Guard specimen collection teams will continue to gather COVID-19 specimens at regional testing sites throughout Wisconsin scheduled into early 2021. Teams have collected a cumulative total of over 973,000 specimens at community-based testing sites and institutional-based testing missions. The Wisconsin National Guard’s collection activities support the Wisconsin Department of Health Service’s efforts to expand COVID-19 testing throughout the entire state. UW Stout Plans for Virtual Hat Toss

The fall commencement ceremony at University of Wisconsin-Stout will be held virtually for 637 graduates at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 19. A total of 504 undergraduates and 133 Graduate School students will receive degrees in a virtual ceremony. A traditional cap and gown ceremony was not possible because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Mother and Son Facing Murder Charges

A mother and son accused of murdering their father and bringing his body to Barron County say they thought animals would get to him before anyone else. You may have seen the reports on WQOW-TV that 62-year-old Connie Herbst and 26-year-old Austin Herbst of Minnesota are charged with one count of hiding a corpse. Hospitals in Milwaukee and Madison are getting ready to offer the first doses of the coronavirus vaccine, hopefully by the end of the week. The Medical College of Wisconsin over the weekend said it is working on a plan to get the vaccine to doctors and nurses who’ve been treating coronavirus patients for months. But the hospital says it will take time to get everyone a vaccine. UW Health will serve as the regional hub for the vaccine out of Madison.

The Wisconsin Supreme Court is expected to deliver a ruling this morning on President Trump’s lawsuit that wants to toss over 200-thousand ballots. WI Coronavirus Positivity Rate Trends Down

What was predicted as a post-Thanksgiving coronavirus spike is now looking like a different direction. The state’s Department of Health Services yesterday reported 27-hundred positives and 15 new deaths. But DHS also reported a large drop in the state’s positivity rate. Wisconsin’s seven-day positivity rate is now just under 11 percent. That number was 13 percent last week, and 18 percent at the beginning of November.

Not everyone at Menomonie High School is happy to be back for in-person classes this week. A group of students called the Menomonie Student Union says they will strike today. The group says school leaders have not done enough to protect students and teachers from the coronavirus. Kids in Menomonie have been learning from home since mid-November. They are back in school this week, and part of next, then it is Christmas break.
