Lawyer for Blake Reacts to Decision

 The lawyer for Jacob Blake is disappointed about the decision not to charge the police officer who shot and paralyzed him back in August.  Attorney B’Ivory LaMarr said the decision by Kenosha prosecutors proves police are held to different standards of justice than everyone else.  He claimed there are three justice systems in the nation: one for black and brown people, one for police, and another for everyone else.  He vowed to continue to fight for justice in every remedy

No Charges in Blake Shooting

Prosecutors in Wisconsin will not charge the officer involved in the Jacob Blake shooting that left him paralyzed.  Officer Rusten Sheskey shot Blake seven times in the back as he tried to enter his SUV.  District Attorney Mike Graveley said no Kenosha law enforcement officer will be charged with any criminal offense based on the facts and the law.  He added that no charges will be filed against Jacob Blake in this incident as well.  Graveley said their decision was

Rittenhouse Pleads Not Guilty

The suspect charged with killing two people at a protest in Kenosha enters a not-guilty plea to all counts.  Kyle Rittenhouse entered the pleas at a teleconference court hearing in Kenosha County today.  The 18-year-old from Illinois is accused of killing Joseph Rosenbaum and Anthony Huber and wounding another person during unrest following the shooting of Jacob Blake by police in August.

WI Daily Coronavirus Cases Top 3,400

Wisconsin Department of Health officials confirm over 34-hundred cases of COVID-19 in the last 24 hours.  The total number of cases now tops 491-thousand.  There were also 95 additional deaths reported today, bringing the death toll statewide to four-thousand-979.

Vaccination Tracker Shows WI Rates

A new COVID-19 Vaccine Tracker created by Bloomberg shows Wisconsin has vaccinated just over one-percent of the population against COVID-19.  That’s about 87-thousand residents.  Neighboring states Minnesota, Illinois and Iowa have vaccinated below two-percent of their population while Michigan has inoculated less than one-percent of its residents.

Airlines Grounding Support Pets

American Airlines is no longer allowing emotional support pets on flights due to changing government rules.  The North Texas-based air carrier says the rules go into effect next week and travelers will soon have to fill out a government form two days before boarding planes.  New federal rules define service animals as a dog trained to help a disabled person.  An American spokesperson tells The Dallas Morning News pets weighing less than 20 pounds will still be allowed onto flights

Crash Victim Identified

The Dunn County Sheriff’s Office says 24-year-old John Quinn the Fifth is the victim of a crash Sunday near Menomonie. The crash happened on Highway-BB north of Highway-12. Quinn was pronounced dead at the scene after crashing into a tree.

Reopening the Open Enrollment Discussion

Open enrollment could reopen again at Memorial High School. The Eau Claire school board will vote later this month to reopen enrollment at the school after voting in 2017 to funnel all open enrollment into North High School. A vote will happen later this month.

DNR Announces Wolf Season 2021

The gray wolf is no longer on a federal list of endangered species. The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources will allow hunters an official wolf season in 2021 beginning November 6th. The department says it is illegal to kill a wolf outside of the hunting season unless wolves are killing, wounding, or biting a domestic animal on private property.
