WI Senate Passes Genocide Education Bill

The Wisconsin Senate has passed legislation that would require schools to teach about the Holocaust and other genocides. Under the bill, schools would have to instruct on the Holocaust and other genocides at least once in grades 5-8 and once in grades 9-12.

Men Facing Charges After Illegal Hunt

Prosecutors in Pepin County are pressing ahead with charges against two men for illegally hunting deer last November. The D.A. filed endangering safety and illegal deer shining charges against  Dakota Anderson and Nicolas Schindler. Deputies say the two shined a bright light at several deer last fall, then shot at them with a rifle. They missed. The two are due back in court in May.

Changes in Chippewa

The new design for the pavilion on Flag Hill in Irvine Park will mean new seats, a new concession stand, and new bathrooms. Developers presented the new design last night. A vote is set for next week. Chippewa Falls is hoping to spend about 700-thousand-dollars on the new pavilion. Work could start as early as mid-May.

Eligibility Bumped Up, Vaccine Rollout Continues

The next group of people to get the coronavirus vaccine in Wisconsin can get the shot a little early. The state’s Department of Health Services yesterday said they are opening eligibility for people 16 to 64 with pre-existing medical conditions on Monday. That’s a week ahead of schedule. Foxonn Plans Projects

We could know by the summer just what Foxconn will make at its facility in Mount Pleasant. The company yesterday said it will make that announcement by July. The news comes as Foxconn’s CEO Young Liu this week said the company will build electric cars with Fisker either in Wisconsin or in Mexico. PolishFest Sets Sights on 2022

Scratch PolishFest off the summer schedule this year. Organizers yesterday said they will not hold their annual festival at the Summerfest grounds. PolishFest was supposed to run for three days in mid-June. Polish Center of Wisconsin Executive Director Jeff Kuderski yesterday said this is just not the time to bring the festival back.
