Rollover Crash Leads to 2nd OWI

A man picks up a second OWI after a rollover crash. 39 year old Jeffrey A Curtis, from Stillwater, MN has been arrested by the Wisconsin State Patrol Eau Claire Post for operating a motor vehicle under the influence, 2nd offense, with one child in the vehicle under the age of 16. It was on Sunday, February 21st at approximately 8:00pm when the Wisconsin State Patrol responded to a single vehicle rollover crash on I-94 westbound just west of Roberts.

Search for Suspects Continues

The scenes have been cleaned-up, but the search continues. There’s still damage from Friday’s string of break-ins along London Road. Eau Claire Police are asking for help in finding whoever broke into several businesses. Officers say the suspect stole what they could. No one was hurt in any of the break-ins. Tragic Fire in Washburn Co.

Investigators are looking for the cause of a house fire in far northwestern Wisconsin that left two children dead. The fire broke-out about 4 a.m. Saturday in the tiny town of Minong. The Washburn County Sheriff’s Office is not identifying the children, specifically their ages. The family has launched a GoFundMe effort. They say they have no insurance, and the fire took everything from them including their clothes.

Welcome Home, Winners!

It will be a triumphant return to school for the Chippewa Falls girls hockey team. The ladies won the WIAA state hockey championship on Saturday, 3-2, on an overtime goal from Joey Schmenauer. The team includes players from Chippewa Falls, McDonell Catholic, and Menomonie schools. This is Chippewa Falls’ first state title in girls hockey.

WI Coronavirus Cases Fall, Vaccine Rollout Continues

More people in Wisconsin are getting their second dose of the coronavirus. The state’s Department of Health Services yesterday said nearly 350-thousand people in the state have now been fully vaccinated. That’s up nearly 100-thousand from last week. A full six-percent of people in the state have now gotten two doses. Another 806-thousand people have gotten just one.  You have to go back to the week of Thanksgiving for the last time Wisconsin didn’t report any coronavirus deaths. Gov. Evers Proposes Mascot Changes

Wisconsin’s governor wants to end Native American mascots in the state’s high schools. Investigation Continues in Oneida Officer Involve Shooting

 Wisconsin’s Division of Criminal Investigation is helping look into an officer-involved shooting in Oneida that sent one man to the hospital. It happened about 1:30 yesterday morning in the parking lot of the Tribal Police Department. Officers got a call about a man at the station who was acting erratically. When an officer showed-up, the suspect opened fire. The officer returned fire and wounded the suspect. The officer was not hurt.

Wolf Hunt Starts in WI

Wolf hunters in Wisconsin will head to the woods today. The state’s first wolf season since the gray wolf was removed from the endangered species list begins today. An appeals court judge on Friday denied a request from the state’s Department of Natural Resources to stop the hunting season. Hunters have until Sunday to bag 200 wolves.

News Eagle Scouts Soar

Four of the newest Eagle Scouts in America are young ladies from southeast Wisconsin. All four received their honors yesterday. The Boy Scouts of America began accepting girls into their program back in 2019. Yesterday, Jaisyn Daher from Mount Pleasant, Caroline Scheidt and her younger sister Annie from Racine County, and Annastasia Wischki from Mequon all earned the Scout’s top honor.
