City Council to Vote on a Voting Site

The Eau Claire City Council could vote this evening on a resolution establishing the Masonic Temple on Graham Avenue as a voting site.  The election site would be available for those living in Wards 31 and 32. The Spring Election is April 6th.  The meeting starts tonight at 4 p.m.

U-W-Health Urges Vaccines

U-W-Health is urging people to get a COVID vaccination whenever they can.  In a news release, the system says it only received a fraction of what it considers the necessary doses for all it’s patients from the state health department. They say they’re able to schedule about five-thousand vaccine appointments a week, but have had to cancel some due to limited supply. They say because of the limited supply, it’s important to be vaccinated whenever there are appointments available.

La Crosse Man Facing Jail Time After Face Mask Altercation

A La Crosse man with a lengthy criminal history is in jail after police say he punched an elderly man over wearing a face mask. The D.A. in La Crosse says video shows 40-year-old Danny Link throw a haymaker at an older man outside of local Walgreens on Saturday. The older man says he asked Link to wear a face mask in the store. Link has 15 open cases in La Crosse County, and he’s currently being held on 25-hundred

Sex Offender to be Released in Menomonie

Authorities in Menomonie are warning about a convicted sex offender who is about to be released back into the community. The Dunn County Sheriff’s Office says Mark Severson will be living at a home on Highway K, starting Saturday. Severson spent time in prison for two child sex crimes from back in 2001.

WI Coronavirus Trends Continue

Wisconsin is going to need a shipment of coronavirus vaccine if the state wants to keep pace in getting people the shot. The state’s Department of Health Services yesterday said they’ve received under five-thousand doses so far this week. Wisconsin has been averaging about 200-thousand-doses per-week since the end of January. DHS Deputy Secretary Julie Willems Van Dijk says Wisconsin has gotten only about a quarter of the vaccine doses it needs to make sure everyone who is eligible for a shot can get one.

The University of Wisconsin would be the big winner under Governor Tony Evers’ building budget. The governor yesterday unveiled a two-point-four billion-dollar plan to build dozens of university buildings, a new state government hub in Milwaukee, and a new juvenile prison. Kohl’s Could See Changes

There could be some changes coming to Kohl’s. Bloomberg reported yesterday that a group of activist investors have set their sights on the company and want to make some changes. The investors say Kohl’s has chronically underperformed. Their plan is to eliminate some sales and sell some property to boost earnings. The investors own a little more than nine-and-half-percent of Kohl’s shares, making them the company’s largest shareholder.

Gavel Drops, WI Election Challenges Dropped

Former President Trump’s challenges to the November election in Wisconsin are over.  The U.S. Supreme Court yesterday refused to hear the former president’s case.  Trump’s lawyers were challenging the ruling from the Wisconsin Supreme Court that said the former President waited too long to sue over absentee voting and indefinitely confined ballots.  The U.S. Supreme Court did not issue an opinion, instead simply refusing to take-up the case.
