WI DHS Reports 709 New COVID-19 Cases

 Wisconsin Health Department officials confirm 709 new COVID-19 cases reported over the past day.  The number of confirmed cases now tops 589-thousand.  There were five additional deaths reported today to raise the death toll to six-thousand-703. CLICK HERE FOR MORE FROM WI DHS.

Pump Slips a Bit

The average price for regular gas is down a penny a gallon statewide over the last week.  Triple-A says the price at the pump in Wisconsin is two-dollars-and-72-cents a gallon today.  Regular gas is two-63-a-gallon in Fond du Lac, two-68 in Madison and two-69 in Green Bay.  Drivers are paying 2.70-cents in Kenosha County and Janesville, 2.81 in La Crosse and here near us, about 2.73 in Eau Claire.

Flyover to Honor Fallen Pilot Slated for Saturday

F-16s from the 115th Fighter Wing’s 176th Fighter Squadron and F-15s from the Oregon Air National Guard’s 123rd Fighter Squadron will conduct a missing man formation flyover as an aerial salute to fallen 115th Fighter Wing pilot Maj. Durwood “Hawk” Jones, who perished in an F-16 crash in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula late last year. The flyover salute will take place in the skies over Truax Field Air National Guard Base at Dane County Regional Airport April 17 at 11:30 a.m.

The Eau Claire Chamber of Commerce joined Merge Urban Development yesterday for a groundbreaking ceremony for the new Andante Apartments downtown. Welcome Home for Local Vovid-19 Patient

A 61-year-old man hospitalized with COVID-19 since late-January is back home now. H-S-H-S Sacred Heart posted a photo of Steve who was released from their care on his birthday Wednesday. They say he had a stroke from COVID-19 and will continue physical therapy at home.

UWEC Culture Fest Planned

Events start Saturday and there will be some international food dishes to sample in the Davies Center and Marketplace each day of the event. Investigation Underway Into Teachers Comments

No one is saying just what a Chippewa Falls High School teacher said to get him suspended from the classroom. The school district yesterday said the unnamed teacher has been placed on leave because of ‘racist’ and ‘offensive’ comments from two years ago. The district says it just became aware of the teacher’s comments this week. The school district is asking parents for time to complete a formal investigation.
