WI Coronavirus Cases Steady, Vaccine Rates High in Seniors

Department of Health officials are confirming 349 new COVID-19 cases over the last 24 hours.  That brings the total number of cases to nearly 600-thousand.  There are 86-hundred active cases.  There were no additional deaths confirmed over the last day, maintaining the death toll at more than 68-hundred-and-30.The Department of Health reports three quarters of Wisconsin’s seniors are fully vaccinated.  Today’s data shows 81-percent of people 65 and older have received at least one shot.  Over 75-percent have completed the two-shot

Shooter Identified

Authorities in Brown County are identifying the suspect in the deadly shooting at the Oneida Casino as 62-year-old Bruce Pofahl.  Pofahl was a food and beverage director at the Duck Creek Kitchen & Bar at the casino.  He was fired earlier this year and returned Saturday night, killing Ian Simpson and Jacob Bartel at the restaurant and wounding a third employee who is listed in serious but stable condition.  Pofahl was shot and killed by police.  Sheriff Todd Delain gives

WI Men Facing Charges After Capitol Riots

Two Wisconsin men are facing charges connected to their role in the January 6th riot at the U.S. Capitol.  Brandon Nelson of Madison and Abram Markoski of La Crosse made their initial appearances in court today.  Neither man is accused of violent crimes, but they are charged with disorderly conduct and entering a restricted area.

Early Morning Fire Damages Estimated at $200,000

It was just before 4:30 on the morning of Monday, May 3, 2021 when crews responded to reports of a fire and explosions at a location on 2112 South Esmond Road at the Alibi Lounge. WI Jobs Stay Steady

An April report from the Wisconsin Policy Forum shows the state did much better than it’s neighbors for jobs lost during the pandemic. The data shows Wisconsin’s employment loss percentage was the lowest among five Midwest states. Wisconsin had the lowest drop in total jobs from September of 2019 to September 2020. Iowa is second, followed by Minnesota, Illinois, and Michigan.

Historic Paper Mill Destroyed

A historic paper mill is destroyed after a fire overnight. The Neenah-Menasha Fire Rescue department says the former Whiting Paper Mill now used as apartments caught fire last night. They say the fire was contained early this morning, but it will take a few more hours to investigate and ensure it’s completely out. They say no one was hurt.

WI Casino Shooting Remains Under Investigation

Investigators looking into the deadly weekend shooting at the Oneida Casino may have more answers later today. Police will only say that a man walked into the Radisson Hotel & Conference Center and shot three people. Officers then shot the gunman when he tried to leave.
