Eau Claire, Richland Counties Added to Wisconsin Gypsy Moth Quarantine

Trapping data collected by the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP) indicates that the gypsy moth, an invasive insect from Europe that feeds on the leaves of more than 300 tree species, is now established in Eau Claire and Richland counties. As a result, both counties have been placed under state and federal gypsy moth quarantine, joining most of eastern and central Wisconsin already considered to be infested with the pest. Daily Coronavirus Cases in WI Top 450

Slow Rollout for High Speed Internet

One hundred-million-dollars in funding to expand high speed broadband will soon be available.  Governor Tony Evers says the funds are federal dollars from the American Rescue Plan Act.  The governor says to qualify for the grant program projects have to meet certain U.S. Treasury guidelines.

Buffalo Co. to Offer Free Vaccine Clinic

The Buffalo County Health Department will be holding another free, walk-in vaccine clinic this Friday, May 21st from 12pm-4:30pm at the Milton Town Hall (S2794 State Road 88, Fountain City, WI 54629). WI Crop Progress Report

The latest crop progress report shows Wisconsin farmers are ahead of scheduling planting crops this year. The USDA report shows Wisconsin’s crop progress is about 23-percent ahead of the five-year average at 78-percent. Neighbor Iowa is leading planting progress at 94-percent complete.

They say they’re selling out of their inventory, and will close sooner than June 30th if they sell out before then. Chippewa Sewing Machine Company  has been in business for 72-years.

Missing Teen Found Safe

The search for a missing teen from southeast Wisconsin ended in Menomonie. Police say they found 13-year-old Samantha Stephenson last night, and she’s safe. She’d been missing from Saukville. Police say she was on the run with her 19-year-old boyfriend. There’s no word on his whereabouts. Menomonie Police are not saying where or how they found Stephenson.
